I think that you should respond to him with a photo of some super model (thats been airbrushed tip to toe) along with the amount you're going to be spending on your wedding. You did say close to $500,000 right? ;-)

Then once you've peaked his attention lay into him. Tell him that his e-mail was competely inappropriate and even if he offered to shoot your wedding for free you wouldn't be using his services. Furthermore, you are going to be putting the word out to your other engaged friends to steer well clear of him and his company. His choice of words and lack of respect is utterly distasteful.
lmao omg I LOVE this! Just make sure that if you do this to use a pic of an uknown supermodel or whatever so he won't be on to you from the get go ahahaha. cheesy.gif

omg.. that just made me want to throw up!! i can't ever EVER imagine a photog having the nerve to ask someone that!! how does he honestly book a regular wedding if he seems so concerned with knowing what you look like and what your budget it. he doesn't want you to "waste" his time, don't let him waste yours!!

i think you've already done the most effective thing you can.. put the word out there that the guy's a dirtball. based on his email i can only assume he's the kind of person who, even if you tell him how rude he seemed, wouldn't care one bit. a bad review will accomplish more than an email back to him! just think, the next time someone googles his company, your post will come up!!

good luck finding a fantastic photog for your wedding! someone WORTHY of bringing to MX!

Yup, I don't like him.

Sometimes when you respond to people as though you are angry, they will just write you off as a crazy person. Even though you have every right to be offended. It might be more effective to say something along the lines of "based on your email, I don't feel like your personality would mesh well with us, our family or friends. Thank you for your time and consideration..." That might get him thinking about his personality flaws at least.

Wow. I didn't even ask my models back 6 years ago these questions, when I was looking to update my portfolio.

I do understand that this photographer only wants pretty weddings and pictures, but we, as photographers have to make everyone look great. My clients are not models, but I try to make them look like the ones from fashion magazines and would never complain or turn anyone down!!
