I need to BEAT it in my head!

I have to really beat it in my head and remind myself, even though it's hard at such an exciting time, that everyone is not in the same place in their lives that I am in right now, THANK GOD FOR ALL OF YOUsmile03.gif

I was talking to a friend today about my engagement party coming up and she had all these suggestions and comments about what we are planning to do. I don't think she was intentionally trying to be negative but the comments she was making was suggesting that we do things differently like there's a problem with how we are doing things. I was just mentioning how I want things to be for the party, not asking for any advice. What confused me was that in the same breath she said more than once, when I get married I'm doing things exactly how I want to and not going to try to please anyone else, now why the censored.gif does she not realize that's what I'm doing! I am at a very exciting tme in my life and I know that everybody else is doing their thing and that's totally fine. I just have to do better at keeping my conversations with some people short and non-wedding related and spend more time on BDW, LOL. What I will have a problem with is when people come to me and say I'm acting different or distant when in reality we are just doing different things in our lives, which is how life goes.

SO AGAIN, THANK GOD FOR ALL OF YOU!!!smile03.gifsmile03.gifsmile03.gif

Ditto. Agree 100%.

Ignore them. This is supposed to be a happy, exciting time for you. At the beginning of our engagement, I felt kind of guilty talking about the wedding all the time. Then I realized, stop feeling guilty, this is your time to be excited and happy... screw anyone who gets pissy about all the wedding talk.

its soooooooo true that when wedding talk comes up, people seem to have an opinion on EVERYTHING!!!! It's also somewhat surprising to me that they GIVE their opinions on some things even when they know damn well its opposite what you're doing! But, thats life! Pull through and have the greatest wedding day of you're life :)

i'm with you!! i think i would go nuts if it weren't for all of you!! i will be the first of my really good group of friends to get married and i only talk about the wedding with one of them. it's awkward with the rest and they just don't get it. they have an opinion on everything... i swear if i hear "that's what you're SUPPOSED to do" one more time i'm going to scream!

I hate to say it , but some single women tend to hate on those of us who are attached as if it is our fault that they don't have a man. Most women dream about their wedding day so she is probably feeling a ton of emotions that are hard for her and your other friends to express. Try to keep in mind that deep down she probably is very happy for you and just has a difficult time showing it. I feel so blessed that my best friend and I are going through our engagments and planning together! Between her and this forum, I get all my wedding chatter out and tend to down play it around those women in my life who might fuss!

I agree that some people get jealous. I had a girlfriend say to me once at a party "Ok, for the rest of the night I don't want to hear a single thing about your wedding!" She was just being nasty and it was weird becuase I wasn't even talking to her. I was talking to another girlfiend that is getting married this year too. She was evesdropping and felt it necessary to bite my head off. Grrr.

Yup, people become very jealous when it comes to weddings. Sad but true. Dont bother with people like that. Try to surround yourself with people who real truly care about your wedding. I am sure that if not all the majority of us here can relate.
