Toddling Flower Girls Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

I would agree, that you will have to just go with the flow. In my brother's wedding he had my two nieces (3&4) walk down...they both practiced. One is super outgoing and does the little pagent things (used to not anymore) and the other is super quiet. Thinking they would walk down together or at least the more outgoing one would. My sis was in the wedding and she was up at the front trying to get them to come down while her husband stayed with them in the back until it was time. Well the shy one went running up to my sis and the outgoing one would not leave her father's leg. But i will say it was super cute!! He ended up walking into the church with the one attached to his leg! Ha!

I would have her practicing for sure wink.gif

my only thought as I read this thread was the stairs at Las Caletas. they might have difficulty getting down the stairs? possibly you would want them to start from the bottom of the stairs or have an adult help them down the stairs? something like that?

Hi Andi,

Thanks for reminding me about the stairs. (I haven't been before so I'm trying to envision everything I need to consider from everyone's slideshow- I forgot that it was a trek from the casita!) Starting them from the bottom will be my best bet.

BTW: Your wedding looked amazing!

  • 2 months later...

I was at a wedding this summer where the couple getting married had their 2year daughter and 4 year old son walk down the aisle together and it was very cute and they did manage to pull it off... Flower girl dropping rose petals all the way, she did get bored during the actually "mummy and daddy getting married part" she went back and picked up all the rose petals... it was extremely cute... Yeah be flexible and don't worry... get them excited about their roles and they SHOULD do fine lol

Our niece was our fg and she was 2.5 at the wedding she did fine walking down the aisle. We practiced at her house whenever I saw her and right before we walked down we told her to start throwing the flowers when she got to the chairs (bc the beach was long) and she stood in one spot and dropped all her flowers it was adorable!!!

We are hoping my FI's 8 year old daughter will walk down with our 2 year old daughter. Since they are super close, I think it will work. But since everything she does is cute (I'm biased), I don't think it will matter. As long as they are both as happy as we are, it's okay if thier personality comes out a bit! We are planning on doing the sand ceremony all together, as a way to join together as a family. That might give them a part of the wedding to look forward to, so they don't wander off! =)
