Are you crafty at all? I'd definitely search around the invitation section of the forum because there are soooo many great ideas. There are lots of things you can DIY for less than $2 each and still impress your guests!

I just ordered my invitations from Wedding Paper Divas. Originally I wanted a unique invitation but after visiting a local store and getting a quote for $10 per invitation I quickly changed my tune. I'm not crafty and already felt I was late in ordering my invitations so I ordered samples from Wedding Paper Divas and Invitations by Dawn. Both were nice, just found a style I preferred from Wedding Paper Divas. I ordered 50 invitations and response cards for around $170 with a $10 off coupon code I received with my sample invitation. Good luck on your search!!

I went on a search for cheap invites-- looked everywhere in the $1-2 range and hated everything. There are definitely ways to get invites for a good price-- you just an't be set on a price range. I finally settled on passport invitations from etsy that have the invite, response card, and envelope for $5 a set. They're more expensive then I was hoping for, but I fell in love, and what you lovee is more important.

I got my wedding invites from Wedding Paper Divas - and thought I got a pretty good deal for what I ordered (invites w/inserts, thank you cards, special envelopes, etc) and was very happy with their customer service too. I found my rehearsal dinner invites on Etsy, though, and I think I spent $40 for 25-30 of those and they are adorable. Invitations by Dawn also has great DW invites that are unique too. Just depends how "into" invitations you want to get.

I think in the end, the people that really appreciate the invitations are either the newlywed or brides-to-be since we all know what goes into choosing them!

wow!! Thanks everyone for the tips! I guess the price she's looking to charge me is pretty expected then. I did check Invitations by Dawn and Einvite and like them the best, but if I'm paying the same money with them I may as well go with the custom invites? Since I'm not getting married until April, I have decided to do a save the date with her (50 std, addressed envelopes, and monogram stickers) for $115. Then whom ever RSVP by January I will send really cute invites to. Is that bad, to only send invites to those who are def coming?

Angie, are you having an rsvp with the STD? STD's don't usually have a rsvp with them, they're usually an announcement about the wedding so people can start planning. But, some people here have included rsvp's with the STD's so they have a sense of #'s.

One thing to remember if you do have rsvp's with the STD, some people may decide to attend after they rsvp regrets, so make sure you order more invitations than the # of people who rsvp yes.

We are going with DIY from Michaels. They were $40 for 30, but if you sign up for the email you get a 50% off coupon that says you can use once per person per day. So I got them for $100 for 150 invitations. But I'm printing myself. For some reason, this was something I really didn't care about, but I know some people really like nice invitations.

We are doing them ourselves...so far we have gotten everything from Micheals and with using the 50% coupons we might spend around $100 plus postage for 150. To me, I would much rather spend our money on a great photog as opposed to a lot on paper that most people will throw away (or hopefully recycle :-). It's really a personal preference though, and there isn't a right or wrong amount to spend - just what works for you.

This is just my opinion, but I didn't send RSVP's with my STD's because a lot can happen in a year...those that say they can come may back out and those that say they can't make it may. Also, I've heard you should send invitations out to those you sent STD's to, but obviously that's up to you!
