Calling Canadian/Winnipeg brides

Hi! I just got engaged last month and now planning a small wedding in Punta Cana. Have no idea where to begin but are there any fellow Canadian brides out there going to the DR or specifically Punta Cana? Anyone from Winnipeg??

We are not getting married in DR but we are getting married in the Riviera Maya, Jan 2010.

I am Canadian from Montreal, and have had a couples from the Winnipeg area.

 

It's always hard to know where to start!

 

First I would look into the dates that would work best for you, your budget and for your guests. Then I would start looking into the many resort options and what type of wedding package you are looking for.

 

A big question to ask yourself right away is if you want to have a legal ceremony in the DR or a symbolic ceremony. The legal ceremony will require more planning due to translation, and the resorts securing a judge on the day that you would like.

 

That should get your started, and just looking around here on BDW should give you a ton of information and don't be afraid to ask questions if you are confused about anything.

Im not from Winnipeg but I am Canadian (from Mississauga, ON). I just got married at Dreams Punta Cana one week ago today. It was awesome.

Let me know what sort of questions you need answered, I also work for a Tour Operator and know and have been to many of the resorts in Punta Cana within the past 2 years.

I was a bride in Punta Cana, DR in November of 2008 and am from Guelph. If you have any questions about planning, or finding a TA feel free to ask. I had guests come from all over Canada and our TA was able to coordinate everything for us.

 

We even had our photographer join us from the US!

 

We were married at the Dreams Punta Cana resort, and it was absolutely gorgeous. I'd be happy to share photos from the wedding, just PM me!
