Hurricane Season in Cancun...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone...

I have a dilema and need some help!!! I have pretty much got my heart set on a September 4th wedding in Cancun (2010) because its labor day weekend and my theory is that it will give my guests an extra (paid) travel day BUT...i am just now being warned by my fiance that its hurricane season and that we should bank on rain?!?!?!

The coordinator didnt mention anything....have many of you out there taken the plunge this time of year with successhuh.gif

If you google it you will see that Hurrican season is between June - Nov and most hurricanes occur between Aug-Oct. Chances are you will have rain on your wedding day...which is good luck! Also, in reading many bridal magazines they don't recommend planning a wedding on a long weekend as most people have previous travel plans, especially for labour day weekend. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Hey I believe that is correct, it is hurricane season then. If you makes you feel better we have our date set for Sept 3, 2010 b/c it's our 5 year anniversary. We are getting married in Florida on the beach and I know that there's a possibility of reain or even worse but oh well...I'm willing to face it b/c that's the day we want. If you are not willing to change your date then just face the facts and make humor of it. I joke about it all the time...it'll suck if it happens but I've always heard it's good luck! WE are planning to go to Mexico for our honeymoon but my FI and I alwyas joke that if it's raining or bad weather, we'll just have a good excuse to stay in bed all day lol.

But just think abou tit....if you're doing anything outdoors, you have no control and yeah it's hurricane season in Sept, but there's other months it can happen to so you just have to be willing to brave it!

  • 1 month later...

Hey we just might be date twins! I am hoping to be married Sept 4, 2010 at Dreams Punta Cana. I am very aware it is hurricane season but hurricanes are not that predictable anyway. As for rain, you may want to check out the sites below to determine and follow the weather in Cancun. If it is like Punta Cana, there is rain but it is short lived an refreshing so I am not worried. Oh, and I am definately buying insurance just like a previous poster said.

I'm getting married next month, heading down the day after labor day. Yes it is hurricane season, but you never know when a hurricane could hit. For my fiance and I, this was the best time of year to have the wedding. The entire wedding party has travel insurance, so I'm just not gonna stress about it. If that time works for you, I say go for it! bride.gif

You never know what you might get travelling to Mexico in Sept. Yes it is peak hurricane season. Trip insurance would probabably be a good thing. You never know it might be completely sunny. I traveled there before in September and didn't have any problems. You just never know.
