Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Recommended Posts

I am getting married at the Palapa and we booked a private reception there too for 28 people. I am not sure if we will get married on the beach or in the Palapa because I am wearing high heels, so the beach may be difficult :)

We were supposed to be getting married Feb 15, but I just found out that there was a mistake made and it is double booked so it may be on the 16th of Feb now. Then we are spending a second week there for a honeymoon. Does anyone know if we get anything special for the honeymoon?

Thanks

@JennNew - They are letting you get married in the palapa? I asked for that and they specifically told me I was not allowed. Well actually Blanca offered it at first and then came back and told me they don't do ceremonies in the palapa. We've also booked the palapa for the reception/dinner but like you I am wearing heels which is why I had my heart set on the palapa.

I am not getting married until November so all your info has been extremely helpful and interesting.  What I would like is to know what the total end cost for the 'extras' will be ie the private reception and extra people and upgraded meal.  We are having about 30ish people I would think so a grand total from one of you lovely ladies after you get married would be greatly appreciated.

I am getting so excited November is so far off.

@Kbodchill: thanks so much for the pics of the palapa.  It looks like a lovely spot.  Did you go see the ruins they have there?  Are they mostly for picture purposes?

thank you so much for all your info.  It is really nice to chat with everyone and i can tell you it has made me feel a lot better and less stressed about the wedding.

@kbodchill thank you so much for emailing the pictures.  I think i'm going to go for the palapa.  there are 25 of us so hope we don't look too lost in there as it looks quite big.  I also noticed that you mentioned USD are still being used?

Thankyou all again.

Donna

@kbodchill - Well all that I know for sure is that we are getting married on March 2. I emailed to book the palapa (thanks to you wonderful review) but I have not heard back yet. As for the ceremony all I know is it will be on the beach somewhere. I am still not 100% sure of all of the options. I am sure that is something that we can work out when we get there if I want to see them first.

@donnaalec11 - I was thinking the same thing! There are only 24 of us, but I think it will be lots of fun. There will be 2 kids with us too so at least they can run wild!

@JennNew

Xelha is always a great excusion... everybody who goes says so! (I've been there twice personally) Just make sure you go on a sunny day because you will be in your swimsuit all the time. Its basically snorkeling in an inlet, and there are a lot of cool fish there. Also, take pictures with all the dudes you see walking around with cameras. They turn out amazing! (we've bought 5)

Haven't been to Xcaret but people say that the thing to do is go for the night show. If you don't see the evening show its not worth did.

We did Delphinus dolphin encounter: expensive, but once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! its a group of 6 ppl to a dolphin, you do some simple things like shaking "hands" and petting the dolphin, but the real fun is when you do a "Footpush!" with 2 dolphins.

ATV adventure/cenotes was meh.

There is a new coco bongo in PDC! Haven't been but I heard its a CRAZY SHOW!

Hope this helps!

@ Donnaalec, yes USD are definitely still being used. I didn't make any wedding-related payments though, so if you're taking care of business with Araceli, you may still wanna confirm. For tipping purposes there is no problem with USD!  I can't wait to hear about how it goes! I'm sure they'll arrange the tables in such a way that you don't feel like there's too much space :)

@Corbeil: I'm exicted you chose the palapa, trust me it looks as beautiful in person as it does in pictures!

@ Denita, the total cost depends on whether you go with a Transat package or a Sirenis package. Do you know which one you'll be going with?

On another note, my cousin just came back from a wedding at Sirenis (Cajun restaurant) and he said everything was great! He got there on the Saturday after I left. Resort-wise, he specifically mentioned how good the food was and the high level of service! He said the wedding was also really nice, and there were a lot of people serving them at the reception (the group was 50 ppl) It made me really happy to hear this, he said he was planning on going back to Sirenis either way! Hooray!

I'm really excited for all your girls' weddings! Although I feel like this forum is just getting started! lol

@Kobodchil we went with the Euphoria package through Air Transat with our TA.  From what I remember it includes up to 24 for the reception ect.  By reading everyones posts it just seems like all the extras add up quick, such as the palapa, the upgrade to the meal, the DJ or mariachi band ect.  I haven't talked to the coordinator as we are still a way out so I guess I will know more once we chat with her when the time comes.

It is exciting to hear everyones plans.
