Thank you all for making me feel better about the guests visiting Royal. I should get a few passes for my family at least. Also, SparksFly, peeps totally could try and cross over and who knows we might get lucky and no one will notice.

I have guests staying at both too.... I was concerned that we may not get to see them as much. I'm sure it will be fine though. We are at the gran caribe because we have a 3 year old...I'm jealous of the people at the Royal. At least they can come hang out with us if they want. I just hope it's convenient enough. I've never been there so I imagine that it's close enough to go back and forth if needed.

Hi all!

I am new-ish to this site (have been using for awhile, but never became a member).  I am looking at The Royal and needless to say, I am obsessed and have yet to find another place I love nearly as much.  I have two questions I hope previous brides can answer!

1.  I see on Trip Advisor that lots of people mention The Royal pushing upsells, upgrades, and time shares.  Is this something you experienced?  Did it make your guests uncomfortable?  I don't want my friends to spend a good amount of money to come, and then be pressured for more once they arrive!

2.  My fiance is semi-worried that Cancun has a party town reputation and that there will be hammered teen drinkers crawling all over the place.  I am 99.9% sure this wouldn't be a problem at The Royal, but I told him I'd ask some brides to see if this was an issue!

Thanks everyone!

I really don't think the Royal caters to teens or spring breakers...I know when I was that age there was no way I could afford the Royal for my vacation...

I know my Aunt was kind of like "CANCUNNNNN? REALLY??", but I wanted a place that catered to a lot of different types of people, great hotels and service (heard horrible things about DOM REP), and plus I think Mexican food is amazing! There was no way we or our guests could afford this type of hotel in TUrks and Cac or BVII.  I wanted it to be tropical, but still be affordable to my guests.

Congratulations girls!  I shot a small wedding at the Royal not too long ago and even though it was not in a "private" area, it still felt intimate and cozy.  Here are a couple of shots of that wedding and you can check out the Entire Shoot on MY BLOG.

Beach wedding at The Royal Cancun, Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Small beach ceremony with gorgeous background.

Dinner wedding reception at Royal Cancun, Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Romantic dinner reception.

Happy Planning!

I totally agree, there was no way I was affording a gorgeous resort when I was that young!!  We were more thinking of the spoiled rich kids who can afford to go there and are disrespectful as a result.  Definitely think it's a long shot, but wanted to ask around just in case :)

And YES your Aunt sounds exactly like...basically anyone I talk to!  I get a lot of Mexico/Cancun resistance from anyone who hears I'm thinking about it - even people who aren't even close to being invited.  So annoying!

Thanks for your info!!

I was 22 when i first went to this resort,  (whichis fairly young) It all depends the type of person you are. We are young couple who love to have fun but arent going to be obnoxious about it.. thats what the clubs are for to let loose. This was our first real Vacation together and went all out and stayed at the Royal in a Master Suite. We werent the only young people there, People hjust have to be aware that this is a high end resort and act that way..  The good thing about the Royal is that it doesnt really cater to a young crowd , its not advertised like a party town so a lot of guest that are into that cuz they think of Cancun and think of The Real World ,and think thats what it is.. that they wont find at the royal.
