Welcome fellow New yorker :-). Don't worry, They are much more laid back over there. I'm sure they will get back to you. Try searching on the forum for the hotel name and you could see the reviews of brides who have been married there before. Thats what I did for my resort and got tons of helpful info.

HI! Congratulations and welcome to the forum! As everyone else has mentioned it seems that communication with the resorts and wedding coordinators can sometimes be a little slow. It's hard to make decisions, but I've found that I'm relying on my own research and the forums to see what other's experiences have been to decide. I think it seems like the communication only picks up once you've booked. Good luck!
