Are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses?

Recommended Posts

I am not paying for the dresses, however I did offer to help anyone who needed me to.....I only looked at dresses that were 100 or less and finally found one and David's Bridal that was perfect! I would rather get them gifts for being my bridesmaids than buy the dress plus non except one seemed to care about the $$. also I have 6 bridesmaids and that would have been super pricey!

I am paying for my their dresses. I only have 3 bridesmaids.  I felt bad asking them to pay for the trip & a dress they would never wear again. Honestly they haven't even booked yet!  Still gotta pick the dress but I have my eye on one that is $150. And I will put a few extra items in their bags. Maybe a wristlet or something.

I realize that my wedding party is travelling a far distance  etc to attend our wedding, however We chose not to buy their dresses. I did choose a dress that was under 100.00 and i bought their barefoot jewellery and i am buying their hair flowers. I also bought them a really nice attendant gift ( a coach bag) .. and honestly.. i think that is just fine!

I don't think it is taboo to not purchase their dresses and i don't think that it is rude or what not.. i think it is personal choice based on your budget, your wedding etc.. i don't think any which way is the right or wrong way these days.. I mean unless you are making them buy your own, and then choosing an expensive dress etc etc...  If they are true friends and love you.. they won't mind buying a dress for your special day.. and they will be happy to stand up there beside you. If they are solely focused on how cheap or expensive their gifts you give them are.. or complain about those little things, then maybe it is a matter of re-evaluating who you have stand next to you...

just my two cents :)

We are not paying for dresses, BUT we are loaning/giving money to help pay for several friends and family to attend our DW, and I am not putting many restrictions on the BM dresses - they don't have to match, must be a shade of blue between baby blue and aqua, and must be mid-calf or shorter.  I knew that we weren't going to pay and I wanted them to pay for a dress that they really like and will wear again, and were comfortable in.  And they live hundreds of miles away so it is easier this way.
