The Royal - Playa Del Carmen, Did anyone do a Welcome Dinner???

Recommended Posts

We are definitely hosting a welcome dinner (in place of a rehearsal dinner) to take place the night before the wedding. It has been so hard to get any type of confirmation on this dinner and the details have been lacking. I can't seem to get a price per head on something like this. They have told me I could have it in the garden...but that is about it. Should I be worried? What are my other options? What was the cost of your welcome dinner if you had one at The Royal? Are there other options in Playa Del Carmen that are reasonablehuh.gif??

Thanks so much!

Olsontco...interesting question. I need to start thinking about this as well. I would like to get something concrete planned when I go down for a site visit in July. Perhaps I can ask for us. I hope it won't be too expensive, seeing as how all our guests will have already paid for their all-inclusive packages..

olsontco...here are some options:

1. Day before cocktail party...which will be the same as the a la carte pricing.

2. Welcome dinner...this is also priced similarly to the wedding day reception. $30/person for Real guests and I believe $60/person for non-Real guests.

3. Dinner at Maria's Restaurant at the Gran Porto. They don't take reservations, but you can contact your wedding coordinator or the concierge to book a large group. You can't reserve between 7-8:30 and the cost will be $10/person for Real guests. I'm not sure what the price will be for non-Real guests. The concierge person I spoke with was not clear on that.

I just saw this post and I asked the same question in the other Royal thread. Loanmao - where did you get the information about having dinner at Maria's Restaurant? That would work out perfect if we could do that. We would have an 8:30 dinner, a little late, but not that big of a deal.

Shannon, if you don't mind me asking did it cost $10 per person like I read earlier? Did that include everything for dinner and drinks? If so, that will work out perfect! We already have 41 people and it can get expensive if we have to spend another $40-$50 per person for a dinner.

Lexibride...don't know if you already had your wedding. I've been MIA for a while, but I've written a review on our wedding. We ended up having a welcome get-together with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at La Tortuga restaurant. Maria Marie's wouldn't have worked for us because we had 110 guests. They offered a welcome reception at Pelicanos for $30/person for 5 hours with open bar and hors d'eouvres, but we decided against it for a change in venue and a cheaper price. Also, in January, Pelicanos can be very windy. Sorry again for such a late reply. Hope this info still helps.
