We're torn between Secrets Maroma, Grand Velas, & possibly El Dorado Maroma! It's such a toughie when they're ALL beautiful!! I've been to GV before, but any insight/advice on the other two would be much appreciated :)

Hey Everyone!

I'm looking for second honeymoon/anniversary/birthday celebration options in Playa del Carmen! We were married at Excellence Riviera Cancun last year but are looking for something a little different this time.  We'd like to split the trip since we're also doing a Trash the Dress session with our wedding photographers, del Sol! This will be a huge celebration for us (as well as R&R). For the first part of the trip we'd like to be in the mix of PDC and be able to walk around to restaurants/bars, but still have the comfort/luxury of a great hotel. It doesn't need to be an all inclusive, but I still want it to feel high end (since it's a few celebrations in one!). Since we haven't done any kinds of tours (natural surroundings/cenotes, etc) we want to be close enough to do that as well.  Any suggestions on tours in the area, i.e. Tulum?

I've been looking on Trip Advisor and El Taj Condo Hotel seems like is a great option. It's listed as #1 out of 183 hotels in PDC. They're much larger rooms and everything looks really sleek (but I like the fact that we can still go out and stock the fridge if we want!)  We're also interested in having a better beach experience because the beach at Excellence wasn't that great (tons of seaweed and so many shells that it made our group never want to go in the ocean).  We're definitely beach people and the pictures I've seen look beautiful.  I'd love to hear any feedback from anyone who has been looking in the same area for their own honeymoon.  For the second part of our trip we're looking for more of a boutique hotel - away from it all.  Again, I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance!
