Just need to vent

After what feels like an eternity (at least a few weeks), my parents went to Punta Cana for a site visit (my dad's retired from the airlines, so the flight was free). The good part was, all of the resorts they felt would be suitable - no duds in the group.

Then, I thought my FI was on board with Dreams Palm Beach, had a date and everything. The issue is that the grand palladium chain (including the boutique hotel within the hotel that nice) is $100 more per couple , per day. He definitely wants, the more people, the merrier, and he believes that the $50 each person is saving would add up and maybe make some more inclined to come to Palladium. The problem I have is the wedding coordinator just takes a tad longer, and I'm just more drawn to Dreams.

I feel so stressed, and I just wanted to have this thing done with.

Ok, feeling a little better just with writing that down...

Well, since you're the one coordinating the wedding (you are right?) then working with a resort and wedding planner you feel good about makes a big difference for you. Your wedding is not defined by the number of guests that attend. Plus, April 2010 is a long way off, that gives your guests plenty of time to budget for and come. If someone is going to attend it's unlikely that a difference that small will make or break their trip.

Good luck!

My fiance and I are getting married at Dreams Tulum in March of 2010. The coordinators assistant has been beyond helpful in planning so far. We also have been in touch with a travel agent and she suggested that we look at other resorts other that Dreams for guests to stay at. She said that in our particular area of the Mayan Riviera there are several other resorts that may cost less than Dreams. We decided that though we did not want to put our guests out, we fell in love with the Dreams Tulum venue and did not want to give up our perfect wedding. Plus having your guests at a different resort after you are married gives you the oppurtunity to have a honeymoon just the two of you. Since alot of your guests will use the trip as their vacation too. Good luck! I hope this helped you some.

In the grand scheme of things, $50.00 per person probably won't be a deal breaker....I could see if it was hundreds more but really, you two should go with a resort that you LOVE not one that you "settled" with because you thought more people "might" come. From my experience, the prices actually have started dropping the closer to the date of travel we are getting. In fact, I've been telling some guests not to book with our group but to book the day before as they will be saving $600.00 per couple... I totally understand your frustration....I think you should talk more with your FI. Both resorts are beautiful from the pictures though...you won't go wrong with either one of them. Oh, and don't worry about the correspondence with the WC's....I haven't heard from mine in a month! I'm not worried about it though....I figure everything is booked all I have to do is show up and choose all the options given to me. Good luck and keep us updated!
