This is all we needed (along w/the ipod) to make our music situation happen. I has great sound quality & comes with a remote which is handy. Seriously, the sound is so good and can get very loud - we had to turn it down a few times. Hope this helps
How much did the altec run you? Do you know if you have to use an ipod or if you can use any mp3 player?

Does anyone have any info on whether you can use any mp3 player?

I think we bought it for around $170. Honestly, I do not know if this particular product is compatible with other MP3 players...but, I'm sure you can find something compatible with whatever MP3 player you have - just take it with you to the store & check it out!

We did not do any kind of grand entrance either. Like Edyta, Mariana had our Mp3 player going with our dinner music and we just arrived when we got done with our pics. People still saw us coming and clapped and cheered and whistled, but there was no big announcement- we totally didn't care.

I had set up 3 separate playlists- dinner music, which I played on random; first dances- which was composed of our first dance, our parents' dance, and our first group dance which were played in order; and finally our party music which we again just put on random.

I pretty much was always the one changing the playlist or messing with the Mp3 player. We have a Dell Music DJ and it worked great. Another friend had her IPOD with her, and we did get a couple requests through the evening which she just happened to have. We would just pause my Mp3 player so as not to disrupt the playlist and plug hers in instead. It actually worked great.

We rented the sound system from Dreams.

We just kind of announced the first dance and cake cutting ourselves. We had a marachi band so they introduced us and started playing as we walked into our reception. I just made playlists aswell,(dinner, first dances, dance music) and I changed them myself thoughout the night, it actually worked out really well. I am glad I didnt hire a DJ, I was able to use that money on something else.

ahhhh, you girls are making me realize that I actually need to go and buy my IPOD, lol!!

Christa, did you pack the speaker in your carryon or check it?

I'm going to have to download so many damn songs!!

BTW, can you download songs to your IPOD from CD's that you have at home?? This is probably a really dumb question, but I figured I better ask!

Would you recommend the sound system? Also, what type of mp3 player did you have? I have an I-river and want to make sure it will work with the sound system...

Our step son brought it down for us, we packed it in bubble wrap & put it in his checked baggage.

Yes, you can transfer all of your cd's to your ipod! It's not a big deal, just put the cd in the computer, and tell it to load into your software (itunes, musicmatch, whatever).
