Wedding Planner in Maya Riviera - NOT THE RESORT COORDINATOR

Recommended Posts

There have been some threads about this, but they all seem to focus on the coordinators from the resort.

What I'm wondering, is if anyone has used a Wedding Planner in the area, in addition or apart from the resort coordinator.

Reasons I ask:

I've read people on the Cabo forum talking about an outside wedding planner, and how she was able to get lots of things, like fire dancers, mariachis, for much cheaper than the resort.

Also, I want to have a private reception and such with decorations and everything, and would like someone to take care of that, not sure if the resort coordinator can be trusted.

Anyone else doing this? Anyone have any recommendations for anyone in the area?

Thanks.

Margaret, I am using Manuela de Novak of Paradise Weddings. They are an independent coordinating company and she charges $500. She is awesome. her email address is [email protected], let her know that Sunamita referred you if you decide to go with them. Their website address is Destination Weddings - Rivera Maya Weddings in Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cancun and Mayan Riviera

Hello Margaret.

I was working in Barcelo Maya Beach & Garden as a Group and Conventions Manager 4 years ago and I use to have 4 weddings per day besides the Conventions! I don't know if they will alloud you to bring on your wedding day a wedding coordinator or any other supplier that is not working with them directly. Just make sure and ask the possibilities.

Good luck!

Yazmin.

Why you dont try and let them know that there is a big possibility to cancel the whole thing if they do not let you bring your own suppliers.

It happened so many times to me when I used to work for hotels. So just try and let's see how they react.

I know that they have their own musicians from Dominican Rep. & Mexico and maybe have contracts already with them so it could be a possibility why they do not allowed. But you can always try and ask.

Tell me the name of the person who is in charge of your wedding, maybe I can find out and try to help you a lillte bit.

Regards,

Yazmin.

Hey Ladies,

I hired a wedding coordinator in the states to help me, but lets just say I need one in Mexico. I am getting married at Excellence Playa Mujeres. Their onsite coordinator is streatched thin and takes weeks to answer emails...so I am thinking it would be better to have someone else to communicate...i'll look at the suggestions you all have made..thnx
