Wow. Crazy how all this "started" with an accident like a child running over her toe with a chair.

How brave of her to make the decision. I can't even imagine. I hope though that this does rid her of her pain. Lots of good luck to her for a successful surgery and recovery.

I'm so sorry that this is happening to your family! Something very similiar happened to my father in 2003 following a heart attack. Circulation problems lead to an amputation below the knee. It is very, very difficult to go through, but it will be okay. My father was determined to walk again quickly and his determination lead to a speedy recovery. Your FMIL's positive attitude and the support from her family will get her through these challenging times. I wish you and your family the best of luck.

thank you all again so much for your thoughts and kind words!!

just wanted to give an update that my FMIL's surgery went as well as possible yesterday. the doctor actually found decent blood flow in her calf so they did not have to take as much as originally thought. i heard from my FSIL this morning who said that FMIL was awake and alert, joking around with everyone, not feeling much pain and had a huge appetite. she has a few days in the hospital and then she goes right into physical therapy to get ready for her prosthesis. when we were all talking sunday night she said one of her biggest worries was about our wedding... she didn't want to get tan and have her prosthetic leg not match her skin tone!! her attitude about everything is definitely an inspiration cause i know if i was in the same boat i'd probably still be miserable.

thanks again ladies, you all are the BEST!
