Registry - To do or not to do?

Recommended Posts

Okay ladies, not sure if we should do a registry or not. Since it's a destination wedding and guests will be responsible for their own travel costs, their presence is a gift. However, what's the majority doing? Are you also doing a registry?

We are registering only because some people will not be able to make it to our wedding and will want to buy us a present. We are making it really clear in the invitation that if you are coming your presence if enough of a gift so please do not pay attention to the registry. And plus there are people who may not be invited but know about your wedding (like coworkers, your boss, etc..) that want to buy you a gift.

I battled with this forever...but finally decided to register because we knew certain people were going to get us stuff, so we figured we might as well get what we wanted and not just random stuff!

I didnt want a shower either, but it was really important to my mom/grandma/etc so I'm going along with it & also registered for that reason.

I haven't been able to decide on this forever. Ive had 2 family members that arent coming ask if we are registered but is that enough to registerhuh.gif I don't know, I think we will but I really don't want anyone to feel obligated to buying us gifts...one of the MANY difficult decisions in a destination wedding :)

We registered for the same reason that most of you did - everyone was asking. Only immediate family was invited to the ceremony. Guests were invited to the AHR - some gave presents, many gave cash.

Vonnie6 - what do you mean when you say "no point of spending al the money if it is not legal in the first place."?
