Yep, Sterling and I flew out of Newark. I think our tickets were $407 each round trip. We paid $150 for a hotel room the night before our flight and they kept our car in a locked lot for us while we were gone.

All of you Beaches T&C brides will need to go to the new Resort and Villa section to post your rating of Beaches :) I love this new feature!! It's more like trip advisor so you can rate things that are more resort related instead of wedding related. I think this will help a lot of brides when trying to select a resort.

HELP!

We are considering a T&C wedding for March/April 2011. We have looked into the Alexandra Resort or Ocean Club West, Beaches looks great too. Any photos, tips, advice you can give me? We've had a really had time figuring out a location - there are too many places in the Caribbean that look amazing, nearly booked Aruba but changed our minds last minute. T&C was one of our first choices and just need a little help (push?) making it final.

All we want is an amazing location, since this is vacation too for us and friends/family, beach wedding, simple reception with hos' devours, dinner, and a place we can hang out for the night, maybe some drinkin' and dancing?

We are getting married at the Somerset 3/19/11 with approximately 75 guests.... we went on a planning trip back in February 2010 to scout out places.  This was the first place we had an appointment with and I fell in love with it right away.  We plan on getting married on the beach, holding our cocktail hour out by the pool overlooking the ocean, then the reception on the croquet lawn.  The property is immaculate and the guest rooms are amazing (though pricey).  Most of our guests are staying at the Sands, which is two properties down and more reasonably priced.  There's so many beautiful hotels, and you really can't go wrong anywhere on Grace Bay Beach - it's just gorgeous!  I can't wait for my own wedding!

Has anyone ever heard of the band Press Gang?  Our wedding coordinator at the Somerset booked them for us, as we requested a fun lively band.  I'd say about 75% of our guests are in the 27-32 year old age group and are definitely ready to party.  Originally we had the Island Boys booked, but the wedding coordinator said they weren't really our style as they play only carribean music.  We're looking for a mix of that AND popular music from here in the US.  Thoughts on Press Gang?

Mrs. D, we're the same age as you and wanted a similar combination of caribbean and popular music but it's apparently hard to find on the island. My WC gave me 3 options including Press Gang. She described them as 'Contemporary with a Soul Funk influence'.  Personally, that wasn't really my style so we went with Tropic All Stars which was described to us as 'Reggae, Calypso, Contemporary'.  She told me everything from them will have a Caribbean sound but they'll play James Brown, Kool and the Gang, etc. They won't know current stuff like Kings of Leon, Coldplay etc. If we wanted more current, she said to go with a band called Bowen Arrow. They wouldn't have a Caribbean flair though and we really wanted that. So we're going to do an Ipod mix on their set breaks that has current songs. I don't think it will be quite as 'party' as I'd like but my WC says they'll get everyone up and dancing...and then we'll mix in the Ipod. I think that's as close as we'll get to having both current and Caribbean music. Hope that helps!

Hi all, I had my wedding at The Somerset in June and used Press Gang. I actually didn't even realize it was their name, but they were great and I'm glad we booked them. I would kind of describe them as a bunch of local guys who jam together on the weekends, if that makes any sense. I think the bass player was the island yoga instructor and the singer was the head of the cultural center! Of course I did not see a play list beforehand, and I was totally okay with it. You have to remember you are going to be down in the islands, and things are different then up here in the States. No formal play lists, it just goes how it goes. They were great, highly recommend!
