For those of you who have done a unity sand ceremony at your wedding, did the sand stay in place by the time you arrived home? If so, how did you manage to keep it that way?

Yes our sand stayed in place we stuffed paper in the holder so it was tightly filled.

Well that's good to hear. Did you take it on the plane as checked luggage or as a carry on?

We used the Kohls frame with the multiple panels. I glued the glass panels in, but the sand still came out. Also, the slot for the sand is pretty thin, so the sand blew everywhere during the ceremony. I brought some sand home so we can re-create it at home cause it ended up a big mess.. I think if you stuff a vase tight and carry it on, you should be ok, but the frame didn't work so well...

I am buying a set that comes with an opening that is wide and comes with a cap to cover. I hope it works. Here is what I will get

A glass bottle with hermetic closure should work. It may not look as nice compared to the other options but it should be functional. You can find them at the Container Store.
