Anyone HOPING Guests Book Shorter Stays?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to add that I totally wanted people to leave early! haha, my parents stayed only for the first week, so that was fine...but my ILs stayed the entire two weeks! It didn't feel like a "real" honeymoon at all! sad.gif I'm still a little bitter about it actually lol.

All 15 of our guests stayed for the whole week. Although, I'm sure that our circumstances were different as our guests had to endure a 10 hour flight to attend our wedding (there was no way anyone was getting back on a plane before that week was up & even then, I don't think anyone was looking forward to the trip home.) Anyway, we did the wedding on Thursday & everyone left on Sunday, so there were only a few days of honeymoon that we had to share with our guests, so maybe that would be something to think about so there are not lurkers :) Best of luck!!!

The way I look at it is like this. I see my soon to be husband everyday of my life. Which I love! We don't have kids (unless 2 dogs count?!), so we have time to focus on one another in our day to day lives.

It's not too often we have a chance to go away with so many of the great people in our lives. We aren't planning anyone's trip for them. We just want them at the wedding/wedding dinner and party. If they choose to go off and do their own thing - that's fine with us. We will want some alone time too, I think our guests respect the fact that this is also our honeymoon ;0) And, to be honest - we know some of our guests are going away more for themselves than for us.

We want to make the most of this trip and the time we have with our friends and family! It's going to be a very chill vacation.

You are not alone at all! I really hope our guests do not stay longer than the Sunday after our wedding. We even set our date as Friday so people would have a day to relax before leaving on Sunday. My fiance is the one not wanting to change resorts either and I don't know how much I really would want to change either once the day is here, but I have already started to tell my friends and family that "come Sunday I don't know who any of you are." That way they kind of get the hint that if you stay past Sunday I am not hanging out with you because I am on my honeymoon!! But we did/are making a point to tell everyone that we are getting there the Tuesday before the wedding so feel free to come early and hang out with us!

The only thing that I'm bothered by right now is that my MOH is actually planning to leave right after the Reception- the same night- so she'll miss the brunch on the following day... I dunno, maybe it shouldn't bother me....

We decided to take off to another island for our HM, so our guests can stay as long as they want :)

I can understand that! For sure. We're just seeing it from opposite ends of the same spectrum. We can see our friends and family anytime- and enjoy it immensely. It doesn't matter when that time falls, if it's a holiday or whatever, we'll enjoy them just the same.

For us, it's not so much about it being time away from the kids...we can get that if we plan it well enough. It's that this is the only honeymoon we're ever gonna get most likely. Other trips? Probably over the course of our lives...but I have this image of what the week after my wedding is supposed to be, and it's all about the two of us focusing on each other and getting to know each other as hubby and wife officially. In a beautiful, romantic setting where the romance is OOZING out of our pores because of the ceremony we just took part in. Can't be recreated, so they just need to leave us alone. hahaha!

I agree as well I am not telling ppl we are gonna be in Vegas for a week..most know the wedding is Saturday and are coming in either thu/fri & lvng Sun...we are going from tue-tue...so they should be long gone...

My sil even told me don't worry about seeing her & my brother till it's time to say I Do..cause they will be doing their own thing..lol!

Vegas is big enough to get lost & besides we are switching hotels after the wedding & nobody knows which one..lol!

Great Thread! We're staying a different resort for our honeymoon for this exact reason! Otherwise you better believe I'd be praying they booked shorter stays! Savannah I think you've got a great approach by pusing the 3 & 4 night packages :) A little subconcious push!
