ROR on October 10, 2009 - Help!

Recommended Posts

Okay, so FI and I have been trying to book our wedding in Jamaica for the past 2+ months and have ran into several roadblocks. Just as FI and I had a conversation LAST NIGHT about moving our date to Feb/March since we have run out of time to invite people etc... today we got confirmation that we are on for October 10, 2009. So my Mom says GO FOR IT! Don't postpone. Those who can make it will make it and those who can't, can't.

It might just be me, FI, my Mom, brother & wife, uncle and maybe FI's parents.

No one knows about our wedding, we never sent "Save The Dates" because we never had a date...

I'm freaking out! TA says she'll have all the details for me so I can e-mail everyone before the weekend is over. I am still freaking out.

Nothing is done. Nothing. Am I making a huge mistake?

Help!

Shelby, you gotta go with your heart. Are the folks mentioned what you expected or are there others you really wanted there?

I think you come onto this site and get all these fantastic ideas which can throw all your other plans into a loop.

What do you want and FI? That's all that matters!

Honestly, from a planning prespective I think you can do a fabulous job in the time you have. This site has an amazing number of ideas, and many of them you would have no problem incorporating in the time you have. I did not become a member until several months into the planning and I added a ton of ideas into my wedding based on what I saw on this site.

In terms of people who will be able to come...I have to agree with Ebbie475...do you expect many more people would come if they were given more time? Are there others that you honestly think will come? Or are the people coming those that you would really expect? Is there anyone else truly important to you or your FI that might not make it in Ocotober but would if you made the date later?

You have to do what is best for you and your FI...so go with your heart and your gut.

Thanks for your replies ladies... I appreciate the support and opinions. We wanted a small intimate wedding - which is why we wanted a DW. FI is having second thoughts because some of his family might not go and I think he thought they would. So now we are planning an AHR that is sounding an awful lot like and "wedding" and I am wondering why we are going to Jamaica at all? I am going to stick with this decision. We are sending e-mail notifications to everyone with e-mail tomorrow IF the TA gets the info to me (another LONG story about drama with TA).

Wis me luck! We are putting our deposit down and my Mom, Uncle and brother+wife confirmed today they are going. So did my 2 best friends. It is FI's family that is a big maybe.

Now if the October Jamaica weather cooperates we will be golden!

Thanks again... :)

As another October Jamaica bride getting married the weekend after you are, I think it will all be fine. A few things to consider:

Although I sent STD's in January, people are just deciding now whether they are going or not and making plans.

KEEP IT SIMPLE - If you are having an elaborate AHR when you return, then keep it simple in Jamaica so you can relax and enjoy. You, the important people, and the beach!

Of all the amazing ideas that people come up with here, decide what are essential to you and what would "be nice to have". Take care of the essential and hold on the "nice to have" to see if there is time

Join us in October.... happy to have you

Congrats

Trust me no matter how early you send out save the dates there are still people who won't commit to a yes or no. I sent out my save the dates a year early and people are saying they don't know they have to wait and see laterhuh.gif WTF wouldn't you know a year earlier if you could save up? Just goes to show no matter how early you send it people still wont commit.
