SGOR / MoBay v. RIU Riviera Maya

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

My fiance and I are currently trying to choose between SGOR, Sandals Montego Bay/Royal Caribbean and RIU Riviera Maya.

Was there anything in particular that made SGOR or Sandals MoBay/RC stand out to you? I am finding it really hard to choose because I've never been to Jamaica or Mexico!

Any help or opinions are extremely appreciated!

We booked our wedding at Sandals MoBay very recently. Initially, we looked at SGOR and loved the look of the rooms, but picked MoBay for the following reasons:

-It is the only Sandals resort in Jamaica that allows for a Catholic ceremony

-Has exchange privileges with 2 other resorts, including Sandals Inn, which is a quite a bit less expensive than MoBay, for guests on a budget

-the Bay Roc villas!

We are working with TA Jennifer from this site, and I would suggest contacting her and telling her what you need and are looking for and she'll help you out!

My FI and I booked 4 nights at SGOR for the wedding, and then when guests leave, we are going on to Sandals Royal Caribbean in the Montego Bay area for another 3 nights just the two of us for a Mini Honeymoon. I selected SGOR as the resort for our wedding for two simple reasons:

1) Sandals are adults-only resorts (which is what we prefer), and RIU allows children, so that was out.

2) SGOR is quite large, and there is a wide variety of room levels and prices, which might make attending a little bit more affordable for our guests on a tight budget during these tough ecomonical times.

(From what I understand, Sandals Dunn's River is also magnificent, and we plan to definitely plan to check it out to make the most of the resort exchange opportunity)!

Hope you can land on a resort that feels right to you! :)
