Advice to Brides from a MOH

Recommended Posts

Love3 - You're totally right, I do realize that, I wrote this originally very upset and have kind of let the steam out here thankfully. I would never put anyone through that for my wedding and I hope no one has to write about me after my wedding wink.gif

It's funny because she kinda of realized later and mentioned to me that I was incredible to her and she appreciates me a lot, which basically squashed any and all resentment I felt. I told her I feel a little underappreciated and thanked her for letting me know that I wasn't. That was the extent of it and it really didn't have to get any bigger than that. All is well now with everyone =)

Thank you all for your kind words and advice, it's very much appreciated :)

This thread reminded me of something I posted awhile back - my promise to my bridesmaids so that I would try not to repeat the things that I experienced as a bridesmaid/maid of honor over the year. I'm sure I'll have some bridezilla moments coming up, but I'm hoping they will have a good BM experience while taking a turn to take care of me as the bride this time around.

Girl - I hear ya! Amen! You know they say everything happens for a reason? I think all those bad bridesmaid dresses and some bad-bride behavior taught me a good lesson for being a bride.

KittenHeart- No problem at all. I would do something back to her and then say "gotcha" or something lol. That is just mine and my FI personalities. We are complete jokesters with everyone. Maybe say "o.k now can you go get me a latte", or "shine my shoes", something to that extent. I think it would be cute and she would get the underlying message. Hoipe you have a beautiful wedding!! Take care

Wow, it always amazes me that there are so many Bridezillas out there! Your friend was unbelievably awful, but I'm glad she recognized it later. I have also learned to be a better bride because of a horrible experience. You were way better a person than I am, as I was kicked out of my friends wedding party 2 months before her big day for wanting to celebrate my birthday instead of making it all about her. (Long Story!)

Its important to think about what you are asking of your wedding party. They are after all my closest friends and I want them to have a great time too! At least with a DW they are so excited to be getting a vacation out of it, they are willing to do whatever I need them too!

I'm really sorry! Especially with your own DW coming up! At least now you have a really good perspective on what to expect for your own BMs/MOH... dizzy.gif

Haha I read all of the Giffin books, but hopefully she didn't act like the MOH in that book, who slept with the groom :)

OMG!!! I can't believe that happened. I hope she is respectful of both you and your wedding and everything you have done for her. I would have been half tempted to spit in her food/drinks after all of that....
