I hope the wedding was wonderful! I cannot wait to hear your review and any tips you can give your fellow Aluxes brides. I'm sorry they did not tell you about the 10% service fee. It is standard operating procedures for hotels. Most hotels in the US have a 20%+ service fee! Have a great honeymoon! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you return.

My fiance and I are going through the process of signing the contract and putting down a deposit but we are starting to have some reservations. We went and visited and had a wonderful time, but there were somethings that were off. We loved Elba and thought she was great, but now she's not responding to our emails requesting pricing. I'm just getting concerned because we don't want to send out the save the dates (which we already have made) or sign the contract until we hear from her and get a better feeling about this whole thing. Now after reading the last review I'm even more concerned. I would appreciate anyone's thoughts. Also a confirmation that Elba is still the coordinator for the hotel.

Thanks so much!

Elba is still the coordinator of the hotel. I have been working with her for months and, for the most part, she has been wonderful. She usually responds within a few days of any request. Lately, I have had to email her more often to get a response, but that's just part of the drill. They have had a lot of weddings lately.

One piece of advice, keep any and all correspondence between you and Elba. Hotel prices tend to change, so you want to make sure you are not charge more in the end.

It's great that you got to visit, I wish we could have. Do you have any pictures you wouldn't mind sharing of the resort? I'd love to see anything you have.

Rachel,

Thanks for the response. We eventually heard from her. She used to be so quick to respond and then once we seemed more certain about having our wedding there she seemed to change. Thanks for the advice about keeping everything. We have already had all of the prices change a couple of times and it's very frustrating. Also, she is now telling us things like they don't do wedding receptions at Sabor anymore (or it's not exclusive if they do). Has she changed anything when talking to you lately? I'm just getting a really bad feeling and I don't want to sign the contract until I feel more comfortable with the situation. Has she been helpful and/or easy to work with? Have you been able to negotiate anything with her? Sorry for all of the questions, but I just want to feel better about the resort!

I do have pictures that I would absolutely send to you. Can I send them to you via this website or email?

Hello Everyone,

I am getting married on Isla Mujeres June 25th 2011. I am getting married at the Zama Beach Club but I am planning for all my guests to stay at the Privilege. I have been having trouble getting a hold of someone for reservations? Did anyone else have this problem? And when you did get a hold of someone, what kind of group discounts did you get? We are really trying to find a great deal because my parents are paying for all the guest's rooms. Any recommendations would be helpful, Thanks Ladies!!!!!

I am getting ready to sign the contract for PA for 5/28/2011 but was curious about the reception sites (Cafe del Mar vs. Sabor).  Can anyone who had their wedding there offer any feedback?  For example, my contract states, "These restaurants are  formal points of sale from the Privilege Aluxes Hotel, and are  open daily for hotel customers and destination visitors, it is understood that for no reason the hotel can guarantee that either of the locations can be reserved totally  for a private event,".  How private were your receptions?  Elba said they would move us away from the regular hotel guests but I am a bit concerned about this.  Would you have had your reception in the same place?  I initially selected Cafe del Mar because I thought it would be nice to be on the beach, but am worried about the dancing/dj setup if we have it there is there a dance floor?).  Any feedback is appreciated!

Hey,

I was recently there in May of this year and they had a wedding going on the beach and their reception at the cafe del mar. They did an amazing job keeping it pretty secluded from other hotel guests and all the guests at the hotel were very respectful to keep their distance. It was a very beautiful spot to have the reception right next to the beach! There was a small dance floor about 14x14 feet that we saw some guests dancing on, It wasn't the biggest but they had a nice spot for the d.j. too. I was concerned about this area too at first when I was considering the Privilege but they did an amazing job. I have some pictures that we took while we were there, if you want me to e-mail them to you I will be more than happy!!!! Let me know if you have anymore questions!
