I have to say I am so happy I'm not having a bridal party and I think my friends and family are even more happy

michele that is BEAUTIFUL!! you girls put me to shame!!

 

here is my dress from the day i ordered it. it's a nicole miller and i love the simplicity and the beachy feel! plus, the sandy color looks WAY better with my super pale skin than white ever would!

 

 

 

as far as the wedding party goes, my MOH is my best friend and then FI's two sisters are my BMs. i thought it would work perfectly this way, but when my friends from college found out none of them were in the wedding party, let alone invited to the wedding, they FREAKED. out of the 7 girls i lived with, only 1 has met FI and it was once about a year ago. sorry, but i really don't want a bunch of people who don't even FI coming just because they want a trip! for my invitations i had to steal the saying "because you have shared with us through your friendship and love..." since it fit the people who were invited so perfectly.

I LOVE everyone's dresses! I think mine lacks the "beach" feel compared to all of yours, but it was the one I fell in love with.

 

jerseykitten, I am currently in Perth Amboy..very close to Freehold. But FI and I just bought our first house (yay!) and it's way up in Hawthorne, Passaic county.. we haven't moved in yet, though.

 

what do you guys plan to do with your hair? I heard in Cancun that it's pretty windy so I will most likely wear it up and I want to wear a tiara for the ceremony but my parents insist I wear a veil.. maybe I can wear the veil for the ceremony then switch it for the reception and dinner.

Congrats on the house!!!! I used to live about 10 minutes from Perth Amboy on Old Bridge. I just moved to Freehold (which is where I grew up) in March. I know the Hawthorne area as well - I went to school in North Jersey.

 

Any dress is a beach dress...just wear it on the beach. If you feel beautiful in it, that's the most important thing.

 

Diana, your dress is beautiful...I love the mermaid with all the detail....gorgeous!!!!!

 

Erin, I like the color on yours. What's the tattoo on your back? I have one in the exact same place.

 

I'm going to wear my hair down. It weighs about 10 pounds (j/k) and I don't really like the way it looks up. I am back and forth on the veil...once I get the dress I'll decide. I'm thinking I'll put the top up with a clip or barette...here are my inspiration pictures....the clip may be the only thing I DIY....they cost a LOT of money!

 

I love the tiara and that was my original plan but I'm so worried about getting a headache...I'm really prone to migraines, so I want to have the least amount of pressure on my head as possible!

I'm also an April 2010 bride - although, we haven't nailed down the exact date... we're still waiting for package prices to come out - apparently the Canadian prices aren't finalized yet But my TA promises next week!

Totally not what I thought I wanted, but just fell in love with it!

It's hot as hell - at least it was in the bridal store, even though it's from her Voyage line!

 

FI has his suit - a fitted medium brown suit from RW&Co. He looks AMAZING in it and it's a pretty much wrinkle free fabric!

 

I also haven't decided which resort to have it at... my top 4 are: Majestic, Melia, Dreams PC and Dreams PB. Dreams PB wasn't even on my radar until a few days ago when I read a review from another bride!

 

I have our wedding website all set up, I don't think I'll be sending out formal invitations though... just not my thing.

And I'm having 3 girls in my bridal party and FI has only decided his BM so far... and he wants to have an equal # of GM to me, so we'll see. I told him it doesn't matter if it's lopsided!

 

TTYL - FI says I spend too much time on the computer since discovering this site...eeek!

i agree with michele.. any dress is a beach dress! whatever you feel good is and what makes you feel beautiful is what you should wear!!

i think i am going to wear my hair up... "loose knot at the nape of my neck" is what my MOH tells me (she is a hair dresser!) so i still need to look for some inspiration pics!

the tattoo on my back is a celtic knot. my only tattoo designed and done by FI so far! what is yours michele?

i also get the same thing with migranes any time i wear a handband or anything like that for a long time. i'm leaning towards a hair flower since i know anything else will drive me nuts! your wedding day is the last day you want a headache!

welcome amy!! good luck picking your resort and date.. you've got it narrowed down to a bunch of good ones!! obviously i'm partial to dreams PC, but i don't think you can go wrong with any of them! plus, anything you want to know about the resorts you can find out here! your FI should be happy you're spending so much time on this site.. your wedding will be planned to perfection!

also, your dress is beautiful! the skirt looks so sleek and elegant!!

so i've been trying to find a local photog to do BD pics since my wedding photog is from MN and we're already flying her out to do our engagement pictures.. i couldn't justify flying her in again for a BD session. WELL, she offered to fly in a day early so i'm getting my BD pics and my e-session done in the same weekend! i only have one month left to get ready.. yikes! time to go find some outfits i think!

Hi April gals!! Thanks for starting this thread! I'm April 9, 2010 at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Here's where I'm at:

 

-Booked the wedding date at the resort

-I've picked out my dress but haven't bought it yet.

-Just ordered STDs today from VistaPrint- they're having a special: "100 postcards free!"

-Started a wed-site today (just so I could put the site on the std's, lol, there really isn't anything on the site yet) Drew & Kim - wedding website by mywedding.com

-I've thought about photography but haven't pursued anything yet (Erin sent me great links!)

-Drew and I have looked at invitations once and hope to make progress on those later this summer

-I'd like to get quotes for packages and pick a travel agent soon!

Hi ladies!

I too am an April 2010 bride... April 1st actually! It wasn't planned that way, but we are getting married in the Mayan Riviera and legally we have to be there 4 days before getting married and that just happens to be April 1st. I am a school teacher so we were limited on when we could travel, it will be my Spring Break that we are going on, so no immediate honeymoon. We are thinking of going to Europe in the summer.

 

So far I thought I was doing pretty good, but after reading this thread I'm a little worried I'm behind in things. Here is what we've done so far...

 

-Booked the resort, including date, time (tentative) and wedding package.

-Booked hotel/flights and have 10 seats reserved and 2 people with a deposit so far

-I've ordered my dress, it will be here in September

-Made a wedding website, (that I'm discovering not many people are looking at which is a bummer, b/c all of the booking info is on it)

-DIY Save the Dates mailed in the middle of April

-Bought bags for the OOT bags

-Looked into some photographers and received quotes but nothing booked

-Decided on our wedding party

-My colors are green (like a tropical kiwi green), turqouis blue, and brown

 

There is more that we have discussed but have not completed, like where and when our at home reception will be, as well as our wedding social (a Manitoba thing!), what Drew, my FI will wear. I will be DIY'ing the invites as well and have made an example. We were thinking of making them over the summer and mailing them late August early September, as the deadline for the group rates we got for the resort are due at the end of October. Other than that we have lots of ideas but have yet to follow through on them. I'm glad I found this thread though, it will be a great place to check in and see where everyone else is at in the planning process!

I was thinking of something like the up do below. My hair is naturally wavy but I think that if i left it down that it may be too much with the humidity in PCD.
