Meghan, about your cups question. I'm having cups sewn into my dress and my seamstress provided them. She says they normally cost ~$15 if you purchase them yourself.

Alex- That's really too bad about you going to all the trouble to get discounts and group rates for your guests and then no one took advantage of it. That seems to happen countless times when wedding planning, doesn't it? We do so much for our guests, they have no idea. I would like to say that those who are married know and behave better, but my experience thus far cannot back up that statement!

And that's really terrible of the BM. I can't believe he hasn't booked anything. Your FI should definitely talk to him.

FI and I were just talking about his best man last night. Also not a good BM. Not b/c he hasn't booked anything but b/c he's not involved in any way, isn't doing a bachelor party, and it feels like he's going more out of obligation than want. We're having such a small wedding that we would much rather someone who actually wanted to be there were in his place! We have lots of friends who wanted to come down but we kept it at family only (except for the BM). I think we should let one of those other friends fill in!

Me too, I had cups sewn into both of my dresses, cost me $25 each!!!! Montreal is huge so I guess they know how to make their money lol.

hi ladies!! i NEVER come on the forum anymore...but i just had to pop in and say hello and i hope you are all doing really well with your planning. for me, the forum was AWESOME in the beginning and really helped to give me ideas and inspire me...then the holidays hit...then i just started doin' my own thing.........

Regarding the registry..... People normally purchase gifts on the day of the event or the day before. What will likely happen is b/c the registery takes 24 hours to update, you will end up w/ a lot of the same popular gift. Or if you did a Target, often times the things that are online are no longer in the store, which is annoying. I remember going to a wedding last year and I went to Macy's to look for the gift that I wanted to purchase. I went to 4 diff Macy locations and no one had the gift. I couldn't find it so I gave up and just purchased a gift card. Don't be surprised if people are doing that.

What kinds of showers are you guys having? Couple, Bridal - if so, what's the theme?

Very true about people waiting to the day of to buy gifts from the registry...I know this because I always do, lol. I'm going to my friend's shower in FL this weekend and I don't want to fly with the gift, so I'm just getting it when I get down there. The good news is you'll actually be surprised when you open your presents

Between my FI and I we already have too much stuff, so we didn't register anywhere. We're hoping this encourages people to just give us money! We'll see if that works. My MOH really wanted to have a bridal shower for me though (so nice) so we're doing a girl's only shower and they're all getting me lingerie. I know this because she randomly asked me for my bra and underwear size. I'm sure I'll never end up wearing all that I get, but it will be fun.

we too didn't do a registry, as we have everything we need, and we aren't moving into a house right away. But a lot of people are asking us what we want.. they still want to get us something. I have no idea what to tell them. So maybe I should make one with maybe 10 items or something. ?

Make a registry. The people who buy off a registry are not the same people who give money, and they won't give $ just bc they don't see a registry. You'll end up with 10 different cheesy wedding photo frames...
If you're really opposed to a registry then register at a store with an awesome return policy so you can ditch it all and buy What you want, When you want!
