April 2010 Brides

Recommended Posts

Oh, Meghan, I'm sorry that your friends have been letting you down! I can see the girl who got engaged after you being a bit preoccupied with her own stuff, but they should at least help your sister out with something as easy as picking a date for the bachelorette and letting people know! I think things are going to seem a bit more stressful this month anyway, to be honest. It's March now, so things are coming down to the crunch for sure. Rant away, that's what we're here for!smile03.gif

I totally hear you about your FI, too. Mine has really stepped up to the plate and he's been a big help with the last minute things. He seems really interested in everything, too, so I never feel like I'm boring him when I talk wedding stuff. It's nice to have that support at home, isn't it- makes us remember why we're marrying the guy!

On that note, I'm so glad that I'm doing a DW. I wanted to anyway, but FI was really all for one and he had very little interest in a more traditional wedding. He's really excited for it and I think the fact that we're doing things "our way" instead of staying home is a big part of that.

Thanks Mel!! I guess the frustration is that of the two girls who are both getting married this summer, it's the one who ISN'T currently in the wedding party who is being a bigger help than the girl who IS in the wedding party! It makes no sense!

But I agree that March will just be crazy! This is a big birthday/anniversary month for nearly everyone in FI's family as well (leading into april with my family!) so it's a good thing we only have to call on birthdays since his family lives far away and isn't really big into gifts.

I'm really glad we're doing a DW as well. Even though a few pieces of our planning are catered specifically to FI's family, it's mostly just things we want and that's it! Haha I asked FI last night if we were going to do our own vows on top of the traditional ones we have to say and he says "NOPE! I'm doing as little talking and standing in front of everyone as humanly possible!!!" hahaha. He's not one for being the focus of attention but then again neither am I!

That's too funny- my FI said the same thing! He'd just nod at the right parts if I'd let him. He has been making this running joke about personalized vows though- he'll say some thing like "I take you, to be my legal property, to obey me and clean my house (like a good woman should)...." (I'm a bit of a feminist so he thinks this is just hilarious). Or he'll pretend he's up there and start stuttering and stammering and go "ummm... yeah... thicker and thinner... and all the stuff she said... yeah..."

hahah too funny! FI gets really tuned out when he's in front of crowds so he likely won't notice a single thing anyone does while we're standing at the front. Honestly... I've been at a presentation he gave and accidentally sat immediately in front of his line of sight and he never even noticed I had come in the room! HAHAHA, that and he tries to be funny and mostly ends up NOT being funny at all and I end up being the only one laughing at/with him so it should be amusing if he tries to pull something off because no one will be able ot hear his mumbling and I'll be laughing like a fool!

kim, i have some extra packets that i can send you too.. i can't remember which things i have extras of.. advil maybe? i'll check tonight and let you know.

tracy, your stuff looks great! everything little thing done is one step closer!

meghan, i am so so so sorry about your bridesmaids and everyone making life harder. whoever said that planning a DW was less stressful is completely nuts! as long as other people are involved somehow, there will always be things that go wrong and drive us crazy! hopefully it will all get figured out and you'll be able to enjoy the rest of the process without too much stress!

i just realized that it's officially march 1, which means starting today, there are april brides that are just a month out!! eeeek!! how crazy is that!

I'm thinking that we're the one of the 1st April weddings, ours is 4/3 the day before Easter. I have yet to find another bride that's getting married Easter weekend like us...

Thank you girls so much for your nice comments on my fans and shot glass. I am glad you got it Nat, I had FI friend over the other day (someone who isn't coming to the wedding) and i was just making them, I showed him one.. and he didn't get it!!! I was worried no one would. Guess just the smart ones will get it lol wink.gif

If anyone needs templates, just let me know!

Meghan, I am so sorry to hear about your frustration, I am totally with you on that boat in the middle of no where.

First off, I planned my own bachelorette party what.gif

which has been a big disapoitmet, especially since all I hear from all my guest is ' I can't wait to go down south'as suppose to 'I can't wait for your wedding'

I'v planned a lot, I had this whole thing built up in my head about the bachelorette party, like it would be a total suprise like my sister in laws last year. But it's not. The only thing I didn't do was make table reservations. I even had to buy the sash, and tiara and a few games to play!!!

Again I feel you with the whole BM issues. When we asked our party to be our party, we were planning an in town wedding, so I asked 4 girls. But then when we realized we were going DW route, I asked a girl (whos always busy anyways) if she'd mind stepping down. she had no probem.

so I have my 2 gf's and Mike's sister.

Now Mike's sister got married last aug, and 2-3 months before I'd call her every second weekend and ask her if she needed any help, it was always a no but she appreciated my asking.

When we all went to N.S for her wedding, I was a huge help (it was my pleasure) I did a lot of decorating the reception hall, eve tho last summer I was still crippled with arthritis.

She hasnt asked us even once, if we needed any help. She hasn't called the MOH once to ask her if she needed any help with the planning of the party. NOTHING. (she doesn't even know I planned my own party)

I have this thing where 3 girls and 1 guy for the bridal party is going to look odd. (3 girls 1 best man, no groomsmen)

She hasn't helped, she didn't pay for her dress. I don't want her standing up there, and making things look even more un equal. So instead of just kicking her out, I thought it'd be nice (why am I so darn nice) to get her to do the reading of the sand ceremony (which is more important then just staying up there and do nothing) but I don't want her wear the BM dress, I want her to wear a different colour.

Am I wrong for wanting this? I don't feel wrong. I feel hurt she could ask for her hand in helping with anything.

I was trying to be there for you Meghan and instead I vented, so sorry!! sad.gif

But we are always here for you to vent, March will definitely be crazy for us girls, it's crunch time!

Some one was asking who was getting marred first? I kept the list of everyones names and wedding dates

Yah Tracy I knew you were going through some of the same things with your BM's! I think that asking the one girl to do your readings instead of a bm is okay since she hasn't been too involved so far. If it were me, I'd totally play it up like she was doing me this HUGE favour and that it was important to me for her to take this other role etc... so then it doesn't sound like a demotion!! LOL! Plus then you might not feel as let down by her for not helping more with the rest of the planning you have left, because she's just not expected to anymore. It makes sense.

I giggled a bit about the numbers only because FI has this really weird thing about "balance" so yes, all our pictures are lined up perfectly in the middle of the wall and a plant on the left means a plant on the right etc. SO, given that we currently have two groomsmen (his brother was supposed to be the best man but can't come) and three bridesmaids I figured that adding one more bridesmaid would actually make our numbers fit better since it meant two BM's per GM... if you follow :) So assuming my other friend accepts being a BM when I ask her this week, that's the way it'll go! Four girls, two guys plus me & FI.

I've been dealing with a really frustrating BM as well, she has complained about every aspect of the wedding (dress, jewelery etc.) My other BM's have been wonderful... so... I just try to focus on them...and how great they have been!!

All of your OOT stuff is looking sooo super perfect... your guests are going to love them!! I can't wait to see everyone wedding pics!! It's getting so close!!

Can you tell I'm getting excited?! LOL
