April 2010 Brides

oh yes and the baby conversation! We haven't officially decided on any timing but I have a feeling it won't be tons after the wedding. And neither of us can see having a single child so we'll probably plan for two at least. I'm not sure if I could do more than that but I won't rule it out either. Both FI and I have twins in our family so there's a chance we could also end up with twins. And if we had twins the first time, I don't think we'd go for anymore... or if we had a single the first time we'd have to be prepared for three (one plus twins) if we wanted to try again. So I guess it all just depends on what pops out the first time LOL! I've said for years that I'd be excited to have twins right away and I'd totally be done after that - it just became more realistic with Fi knowing his mom is a twin as well. He already says that I talk about babies too much... but really it's because we can't agree on boys names and so anytime I hear or think of one that I like then I try to tell him. And yes, we already know what girls name we want if you can believe it!

So I guess in the end while we're not rushing into it at all, we probably won't be waiting too many years before getting started. Oh and FI is also two years younger than me (almost) so it's enough for him right now to accept that he's going to be married pretty soon, nevermind get into the idea of having kids not far down the road too!

Meghan,

We have something in common, I am from a huge family of twins, we are actually hoping to have twins are first time around as I'd love nothing more to give the Fi what he wnats (2 kids) but it'll definitely have to be the first time around lol.

I'm actually doing some research now to see what I can do to higher my chances of twins because I'll have a hysterectomy right after the baby.

I found out Quebec will do certen things for free (Invetro) if you have illness like me! So I am hopeful.

Lets just get the wedding done first lol .

Good luck to everyone on the note. It'll be amazing to see down the road and have something else to talk about lol

I can see the problem with 1 child, but I grew up an only child and I loved it, yes of course I had my moments where I begged for my mom for a brother or sister. But my parents both had lost their jobs at one point or another while I was growing up, so lucky they just had me to worry about. Especially with the economy now and days.I just want 1 lol (FI wants to, too bad for him, cause of my health issues)
Feel free to use it- I think I stole it from another bride on here in the first place anyway. We're not having a flower girl or ring bearer but the bowls aren't too big so we'll just secure the rings to it and the best man or MOH can hold it (that's the plan right now, anyway- could change it down the road).

Thanks for the perspective on the only child thing- maybe this way I'll feel less guilty if we stop at one.

LOL but that's our life so it would make sense too.
Us too- we have two dogs and a cat so it would be pretty crowded. Plus our Saint Bernard is bigger than me now so he'd kind of take up all the space- just like real life I guess!

Haha Mel I can so relate to the dogs taking up all the space. Our boxer isn't even 60 pounds and it amazes me how small a space she can fit herself into (yes, she can manage to curl up small enough to fit on my lap in a camping chair!!) and yet when it comes to bed time she manages to use up every inch of space, specifically those inches right in between FI and I, without budging at all! Plus, IMO boxers tend to lean and snuggle in a LOT more than other breeds so the second you move or try to flip over in bed, your space is goooone! But I wouldn't trade it for the world.

HAHAHA and one funny addition to the baby convo... I would totally sacrifice having kids if I could have like five or seven boxers running around the house! LOL! Mind you that would definitely mean living more in the country where they'd have lots and lots of space to run around in but I am totally good with that. It goes along with my life long dream of having two horses as well :) Don't you love dreams...

My smaller dog is like that, too. She's about 65 pounds but she can curl herself up into the smallest little ball when she sleeps- she thinks she's a cat I think. She's got this huge dog bed but she just sleeps on one tiny corner of it. We don't let them on our bed, though- we'd have no place to sleep if we did (the big guy is 165 now and may get a bit bigger yet).

Someday we'll go back home and live in the country. My parents have 50 acres out in the country in PEI and my Mom keeps offering me a few acres to build a house on if I want to come home (she's all about the bribery lol). I'd love to have a few Saint Bernards or Newfs then- right now we only have the space for one (barely). That won't be for years and years, though, maybe not until we retire- plus FI says he's not ready to live that close to the in-laws just yet.

Ahahaha! Well I can't blame your FI for not wanting to live close to the inlaws - I'm trying to avoid that too! My FI has often said that he wants to move back to Manitoba where he grew up - although those comments are becoming less frequent thank goodness! I told him the only way i would be moving there is if I get my land with two horses!! It started off as one horse but then I realized that one would be lonely and needed a friend - so I upped the anti to TWO horses! I have no shame in bribing him to make me move to a place that has LONG stretches of -48 degree weather. Hehehe, and the list of requirements doesn't end there actually. Other items included were... attached garage, heated car seats, indoor parking at job.... all items aimed at me having minimal exposure outside during the winters there. Hehehe and I want to open a boarding kennel/groomers but since we'll have 'all that land' for me, my horses and my dogs then I can just have the kennel at home anyways so that's as far as I'd need to go for work! Woohoo!! LOL, all these plans and ZERO intention of ever moving to Manitoba!

Yes, it's pretty brutal when it gets that cold. You guys get that occasionally in Alberta, too. You should see me all bundled up in my Canada Goose jacket and snow pants, big huge moon boots- it's pretty stylin. No one up here is too worried about fashion when it gets too cold, luckily.

Hehe yah the first trip I took back to MB I was wearing my snowpants half the time and it was only a bit strange since it really wasn't cold according to their standards. I've been known to wear my snowpants to work and it's not completely uncommon. I can only imagine that it would be normal for you though - you'd have to be crazy NOT to wear lots of gear!
