Since I last posted, I changed my mind regarding the information needing to be sent out. I am creating a flyer(brochure) with all the information regarding room rates, etc through Vistaprint. This will be mailed out along with a magnet STD 11 months before. We have a wedding website for rsvp and the link for reserving the hotel. I will send the formal invitation out 6 months before . I may send out a email three months before so that everyone will complete their payment.

A website is a great idea!!!!!!! We have uploaded all the info plus a lot of extras on our website (like pleaces to eat, where to go, things to do...etc.). So we will have the website address on our STD's so that our guests have all the info way in advance :o) They can even RSVP through the website. It's great. We are using Free Wedding Website Trial | Personal Wedding Websites

Most travel companies only need about 10 deposits to hold the booking and quoted price. We got the quote we liked for our May 2010 wedding, had of our close friends and family put down their deposits. (The people who were for sure coming). This holds the space and the price for us. Now I am not in a rush to get the invite and information out to my guests. They have the STD and a wedding website to check until I decide to send the formal inventions.

I sent out my save the dates (but mine had booking info on them). If your STDs didn't have booking info, I would send out an email with booking info. Then when you send out your STDs, you could put your booking info on them again, or just send another email out along with your save the dates. I would not put anything about your AHR on the invitations. I think if you did that, people would be less likely to go to your wedding, because they might think " we could just save money and go to the AHR instead of going to the wedding". I think it is best to do a separate invite for your AHR.

If I were you, I would definitely send out an email with all the important info. You can even go on Evite (free email invites), and make it a bit more special then just an email. Later on you can send out the official invites.

We also did a wedding website, that way we knew our guests have all the info they need, in one place. It does take a while to build one though.

I'm confused about this as well. I've held off sending STD's until we secured a date & resort. I want to create a website to include on the STD too, where people can RSVP so we know how many people we can hope to receive. But, Once I do all that, what really is the point to send a formal invite? You're just reiterating the same info they've been receiving... or, should we not do STD's and just do formal invites right away (even though they'll be 9mos prior)?

I just hate the idea of bombarding folks with too much, and I hate to spend unnecessary money too wink.gif
