Wedding Boat, Reception Option, Review

Recommended Posts

We just got back from our wedding and took our group out on La Barcaza for an afternoon trip. The wire transfer did seem strange but it ended up just fine. Flori came and met us at the resort a few days prior to our trip and we paid the remaining balance with travelers checks. It was a very easy transaction. The trip was a lot of fun and I think all of our guests enjoyed it. The staff on the boat was a lot of fun and kept everyone entertained. I know everyone had a great time because almost everyone passed out on the bus ride back to the resort!

I am now confirmed for a wedding at the Majestic on May 27th.

I am considering the boat reception, as it will be something unusual and fun. How was the food on board? The pictures are not very clear...

Also, would the boat come to the Majestic, or would we have to commute somewhere? As well, how many people would you say it would be worth it to do the boat? We might be having around 20 people... i don't want it to seem empty!

Thanks in advance!

Iris,

I'm not sure if the boat will come to the Majestic, but the manager told me that the will provide transportation if they won't.

The food is fantastic! The group I was with got the kabobs.

The boat wouldn't be completely empty with 20. For a group that size, also consider dinner/dancing at the Jellyfish restaurant. The upstairs is perfect for a group that size, the food is amazing, and its a lot of fun.

Hello Josh,

Thank you very much! I just heard back from the Boat restaurant, and they mentioned that the minimum is 20 people.

Which JellyFish restaurant are you specifically talking about? Is it one on the resort property?

Thanks in advance!

P.S I actually also sent you an inquiry regarding photography through your website

The 20 person minimum sounds about right. It is a big boat, but I think it would still be fun with 20 people.

The JellyFish restaurant is about a 15 minute cab ride from the Majestic, but they will organize a bus for a group of people to go. It is basically just a nice oceanview restaurant that has great food, drinks, and the last two times I have been there everyone has always had a great time.

Last month a group I was with did their rehearsal dinner there with about 20 people and they rented out the top. They brought in a DJ, and we all had the most amazing time.

I will upload a gallery of both the boat, and the Jellyfish for you.

I'm replying to your email right now.

Aww too bad, we are thinking we will have around 10-15, but who knows, we haven't even begun that planning, we could be surprised and end up with more, the boat idea sounds like a lot of fun.....although how about those with "sensitive" tummy's, do people get sea sick on these boats?

We have it booked from 4 - 7 (sunset) but I am wondering if I should extend for an extra hour?? Any thoughts on that? Do you think 3 hours is enough time for some mingling, dinner, then speaches, special dances and some par-tay-ing!?
I was recently on a tall ship for a wedding reception here in Nova Scotia. The ship was not quite as elaborate as yours will be from what I can imagine. We were onboard for a total of 3 hrs. There were appetizers, a bar and live musicians. Everyone had a great time but I would have preferred for it to have been a little longer. If you're having a dinner- I would consider extending by another hour.
