hi lori! i think there may be another thread or two about this already, but i just wanted to share with you what i know. FI is a tattoo artist and based on his experience he always says that the only true way to remove a tattoo is through laser removal. wrecking balm can be painful and really only dulls the color, if anything. the laser option (which i know someone else did on here, can't remember who) may be some what painful, but if you want to get rid of a tattoo it will definitely do the job! good luck with your research and i hope you can it all sorted out before your big day!

FI is having his lasered off...he's had 3 sessions and will probably need at least another 5 if not more. It can be expensive, it is a little painful, but it does the job with no scarring. Find a good dermatologist and get started so you will be all healed in time for the wedding.

I found this topic in a search and wanted to know if anyone was still here and had progress updates.

I have a tattoo on my chest (of all places) that's a purple heart with blue wings. I desperately want it to be gone and not be showing in my wedding dress. I went to a consultation at a tattoo shop and that guy said there was no guarantee because my colors are so difficult to remove. Then I was in tears on the way home and we drove by a MedSpa so I asked my FI if we could stop and I impulsively signed up for a package of 5 sessions at the cost of $1200.

I'm now very depressed about this because I'm only seeing tiny results on only the black outline part after the first session. First off 5 won't be enough, and the way they have to be spaced out I could only fit in 7 more TOPS before the wedding next September. I don't even want to go try on dresses. I've used the Sephora Kat Von D cover up before, but it comes off pretty easily and gets on FI if he hugs me and gets on my dresses, so not the best choice when wearing white. Second, if it doesn't work that $1200 would have taken us really far for the wedding since we're on a budget.

I guess I'm just hoping for a success story sad.gif

Ugh, KnitGirl, that stinks. Yes, bright colors are the hardest to get off. Teal and Blue especially. The lasers are actually attracted most to black. So, believe it or not, black tattoos are the easiest to get off. Also, the further away from your heart the tattoo is, the less likely it is to fade completely. Not that it won't but the odds are just that way.

I have a bunch of tattoos that I want OFF my body. I only have one that I don't regret.

For those of you who have already done or just begun treatments, what type of laser is being used on you? I know there are different kinds and I want to know which one works the best. I have a year till the wedding and I think I'm going to get a couple removed. There is a tattoo shop near my house that also has the removal machine and they are decently priced so I think I will go there for it.
