Dreams Palm Beach?

Recommended Posts

I have booked my wedding at Dreams Palm Beach for Oct. 26, 2011. I did a lot of research for a facility that will accomodate teens, adults, partiers and seniors...this resort won me over. I especially liked things like: 1) 24 hour room service as I have some elderly folks that will retire early to their room but might enjoy that option 2) No reservations required for dinner.  A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT MAKE ME NERVOUS/FRUSTRATED: 1) I have been booked for about 7 months already and have been through 4 wedding planners. I'd send a note to touch base on something and all of a sudden a new person would introduce themself. So, now with all correspondence I put my confirm number in the subject line and ask them to make sure a copy of the request/instructions is put in my file.  2) The reviews on trip advisor seem to go from one end of the scale to the other! Some reviews are out of the ball park with how fabulous everything is and how people have already booked to return before they have left.....yet others give it the worst thumbs down you can think of and seem to have legitmate beefs (if they are factual). I'm just not sure how I feel....some things I know and expect. Having traveled all around the Caribbean, yes, it will be humid, musty and there could in fact be mold. It is the tropics after all. I just know to bring small size bottles of Fabreeze, a mositure absorbent or even packs of bounce sheets....which I rip up and place around the room. Just praying my guests are not folks that feel the big thumbs down is in order...

Ill be visiting Dreams PB next month. Thought it would be a great idea to see the resort before actually getting married there. The reviews on trip advisor are very mixed. Cant wait! I have an appt. with one of the wedding planners when I go. I hope its everything i hope it will be.

Hi Mandy, you are so lucky to be visiting ahead of your wedding. Can you please ask them to specifically show you the 2 poolside locations. All I got was a picture with some arrows pointing basically NOWHERE. I was left to assume the larger accommodating poolside location was the area outside the island. So can you please ask, just so I can get a clear idea of where my reception will be since I will most likely have too many guests for the island. Thank you... very much appreciated.

I have read mixed reviews as well, but I start to think maybe some people aren't used to Latin cuisine... or are plain picky and love to find things to nag about everywhere they go. On the flipside... Every bride that has gotten married at the resort who reported back on their facebook group page has had NO complaints. So I really would not worry too much about it. I am however, including mini room sprays in my welcome bags because it is a tropical setting and a slight smell due to moisture is expected but it shouldn't be too serious. I've never had a problem when traveling to tropical destinations.

Hey ladies, although we are not getting married at DPB, we are planning on staying at this resort from Nov23-30, 2011. We have chosen to have our wedding at the JellyFish restaurant. I just read the latest thread about not being able to bring an outside photographer.  This is worrying me as I was planning on getting ready at the hotel and having pics taken there before we head off to the restaurant. Think there is a way around this? Like say...I bring our photographer in as "a guest". He would only be there maybe 1hr before we leave for the restaurant. This really sucks if I can't bring my photographer to the resort....any suggestions as to what I should do? :(

I would say bring them in as a "guest"... Nothing wrong with having a friend with Photography as a hobby. Actually, a friend of mine took it up as a hobby and shot our Engagement Photos, so who's to say your "friend" can't be doing you a nice favor ;-)   Good Luck!

Yah, I'm thinking of going that route -- only we've chosen a photographer from PC. So I'm worried that the resort staff will recognize him and say "ya right! This guy isn't your family member/guest". I think I'll send him an email and see what he says. I still can't believe the resort decided to do this. Aren't they loosing money by doing this? We were willing to pay the fee for bringing in an outside photographer. Maybe I should email Melani and see what's up.
