Time of day for ceremony... morning, sunset, etc?

Recommended Posts

Awww, Michelle! I didn't mean to freak you out...I am just psycho-bride enough to do research on things like rain statistics!

If you look at it realistically, it can rain at ANY time of the day ANYWHERE in the world, but the good thing is that the rain in the Caribbean usually comes in short, quickly passing showers (instead of hours and hours of torrential downpours, from what I understand). And, if I am not mistaken, I think I read somewhere on here that most resorts will try to wait for about 15-20 minutes if it's raining at the start time of your ceremony to see if it will stop. If not, they usually have some sort of back-up plan in place, usually discussed beforehand with your planner at the resort.

Here is the link where I found my rain stats (and on the left side of the page, it is separated by months, so everyone can see what it says for your wedding month, and specific times of day):

Rainfall in Jamaica

Hope that makes you feel better, girlie! :)

Dani -- yup, you made the right choice! The water looks magnificent, it will be a lot cooler and less humid, and not to sound like I'm rain-obsessed, but your likelihood of rain is only 7%! (I checked on that site I posted above for you!) I'm liking those odds...

My only concern with doing the ceremony earlier than we selected @ 2 pm was a fear of having enough time to get all primped and "gussied up"! Also, my FI and I are both the type that like to sleep in a little, and we wanted to make sure we could get up, kiss goodbye, and then go have breakfast with our families and relax before getting ready for the ceremony. I'm late to everything, and the last thing I want to show up late to is my own wedding.... wink.gif

Your morning ceremony will be glorious and picture-perfect!

I was married at 4pm and a small shower came through at 3:00. I shrugged it off and said it just meant Good Luck on my wedding day. The down fall was that my pictures were not as blue. After the shower it was a little overcast. The sun makes a huge difference as far as how blue the water is. I never really thought of the afternoon rain before and had I did I probably would have changed it to an earlier time just for the color effects. Either way, my wedding was beautiful and I married my best friend so it all worked out. 11am or 4pm mission was accomplished!

Ok so I did not realize there was more than one page to this thread so I am basically saying what everyone else is. The beach is prettier in the morning..lol. Good luck ladies with your weddings! I am jealous of you all. I want to do it all over again! It is amazing!

Thanks for posting the pics of the water at different times, that was so helpful!! I really wanted sunny (hopefully) pics with bright blue water, so I'm doing my ceremony at 3:00 PM and the reception is at like 8:45! Massive time difference but I figure it's all inclusive so the guests will be SUPER fun by the time the reception rolls around!

We picked a time of 4pm on the beach. I really wanted this time because it's right before/as the sun is setting. Afterwards, we have requested to have our dinner at the 6:30pm seating. I figured that the time inbetween will be spent taking pictures, etc... drinking lol

Jennie- Are you just going to have people drink back at the resort then meet up for dinner at your reception? Just curios b/c I would like a 630 reception as well but a little confused what to do with the guest in between....I hear the wedding itself is less than 30minutes!?

I am so torn on what to do!! Right now our ceremony is scheduled for 4pm and I'm seriously thinking about trying to change it after seeing these pictures (thank you for sharing by the way!).Not too mention 4pm has the highest chance for rain!! I have no problem getting up and ready for a morning ceremony, but then how do we handle having a reception later that evening? By dinner time, my makeup will have melted off and I'm sure my hair will be frizzy from the humidity, lol. But it seems weird to have a reception at 11 in the morning! Has/is anyone had/having amorning ceremony and a reception later in the day? And what did you do for the time in between?

uggg...I want the pretty blue water in the backgound!!!

We picked 11am for pretty much the same reasons you did. :-)
