RIU Negril or RIU Tropical Palace???

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering if I could get some advice, opinions, preferences, experiences, etc. on which resort (Club Negril or Tropical Palace) to choose? I'm down to these two and am not sure which way to go? I've heard great things about both, but just want to know which is better overall (lol), my only stress about this DW is picking a resort. If I pick a resort that is not so great for my own vacation, well it's not the end of the world...but when other people are making the trip, I want to make sure it's good! :) My friends have told me to stop stressing over this, but I can't!

Looking for a beach wedding and (hopefully) a private reception beside the pool or beach for about 20ish people.

This website has been the most helpful so far....can't really use any other sites for good wedding info. I would really appreciate your thoughts, opinions, and photos!

Thanks so much!!!

I went to RIU TB last July. The resort was great. RIU Negril is just down the road and we walked down there one day on the beach( You can use the facilities at both hotels) RIU Negril seemed just as nice. The only difference that I know about is that the RIU Negril is more kid friendly. RIU TB allows kids but doesn't have as many programs and activities for them. I noticed alot more families and kids at RIU Negril. FI and I chose RIU TB because we didn't want as many children around.

I guess it's really up to you whether your guests will be bringing kids or not...either way they are both beautiful hotels.

Good Luck!

Hi there,

I can definitely relate =) I had it down to those 2 resorts as well. It's true that RTB is spiffier because of the recent renovations. For us, it came down to the difference in cost and whether we thought that the extra $ for RTB was worth it. The difference was 250/person (i.e. 500/couple) - for us, it wasn't worth the extra cost. We expect that our guests will want to do some excursions off the resort so we figured that extra could be spent (or not!) on getting us off the resort to see other parts of Negril. Obviously, this is just what worked for us - there is no one right answer here. Hope this helps a bit though!

Hi, I am getting married at the Riu clubhotel and my 1st choice had been the RTB when we first starting looking. However due to the increase in price after the renovations had taken place, it was just too expensive for some friends & family members to attend. After reading reviews and seeing the photo's of weddings that had taken place at the Clubhotel we decided the same as majortomm, that it was not worth the extra cost. However they are both beautiful hotels and what ever choice you make, I am sure will be the right one for you. Gook luck with your planning.

If you stay at the RPTB guests at other Riu resorts cannot come on the resort and you can go to any other Riu resorts in Jamaica. If you stay at Riu Negril, you can only visit the other Riu resorts that are not a Palace. I like this idea because you can visit all the other Riu resorts and at the same time they cannot visit you.

Also, the prices at Riu Negril are cheaper than those at RPTB. This can play a major factor in your budget.

There are plenty of reviews and pictures to help you make your decision.

We are getting married at RPTB on March 30, 2010. I picked the RPTB because it won't be full of people like the other resorts since they are bigger and people will most likely come from other Riu resorts to check it out. I also picked RPTB because the reviews are excellent!!

YAY - FINALLY picked a resort!!!!!!!! This has been the only stressful part of this process so far, but it's come to an end!

RPTB it is!!!!! It won't be cheap, but I think it's what I want, and I have my tight group of 10 going, so everyone after that is really a bonus.

Ladies, thanks so much for the comments, it really did help.

i am in the process of making plans to have my wedding @ the RTP.....it seems to be the nicer of the two resorts, i just wonder how much the price difference will be per person?? i have so many questions as to how the semi-private reception is held, do any brides know if tablecloths and centerpieces are included in the Caprice 2010 package, we will be having over 50 guests?? and since the resort is all inclusive, what does the semi private reception include and hoe long does it lasthuh.gif

wow, planning a destination wedding is a lot, w/ little control sad.gif any suggestions out there

I was also trying to decide between the RTP or RIU Negril, after looking group rates, I made the decision to go with RIU Negril. The price difference was between $250 per person. After review them both, the price was pretty much the only diffrence. There were smaller things like RTP offered room service, but we didnt' care about that.
