Okay, so I asked my photographer what it would cost for me to get a disk with all the images on it, since only 30 or so are in my book. I was wondering how much your photographer charged you for this disk. I want to see a ball park as to what you were charged....or if you are a photographer how much would you charge? Please help me!

A full disk of my edited photos was included in my package. So since your package was free, I am sure he will want to charge something.

I made my husband the book from mypublisher and thought I would do the fancy book for him in the future, but after talking to all kinds of other people that did the fancy-schmancy expensive books said not to waste my time designing it or my money buying it.

SOOOO, my point is, if you already did the book, you might not have to have the CD of images.

That's all if you are on a budget. Personally, I would want all the images, so that if I ever chose to do anything in the future, I had full rights to them.

Has he told you how much he would charge you? If it's reasonable, I would buy it, but not necessarily do anything with it right now.

Hi Samie! My BD session cost me $500: it included my share of rent on the loft for the marathon session, hair, makeup, a 30 image photo album and all the pictures from the session. I didn't really shop around so I'm not sure what the going rate was. But I'm pretty happy, as it means that in addition to the leather bound album that I will be giving my fiancé as our wedding gift (with the 30 pics), we also have about 250 on disk!

Every photographer is likely quite different, I'm not sure how much one would charge to sell you the disk afterwards, when it is not included in the original package price. I'm sure other ladies will have advice in this regard :-)

Good luck!!!

BTW: I can't help but comment, your kids are absolutely gorgeous!!!

Well, I asked him for a disk of unedited/untouched pictures....He said for web quality $150 and for print quality $200. I just think that is a lot of money for a disk with a couple hundred pictures in it. I would like to have a disk of all the pictures because he didn't show me all of the pictures, some of which I REALLY would have liked to see. I want something that I can go back and look at and be like "wow, that was me!" KWIM?

And thanks about the comment on my kids....I worked really hard...LOL

Our disk is included in our package as well. Although our photogs post an online album for everyone to see and order from there for 3 months then they will send us the disk, or we can pay $125 to get our disk right away. I think $200 is about the right price. I mean he did the shoot for free so I think $200 for a BD shoot, album and a disk w/ all photos is a damn good price!

Maybe a photog can chime in, but I don't think that $150-200 seems unreasonable since it was a free shoot. IF you had done a package it would be different, but he's gotta make his money somehow, ya know? So, if I could afford it, I would try to figure it out and purchase the CD. Basically for the reason that you said. I hate myself in photos like 95% of the time, but for some reason, I loved my BD photos. So I will totally reference them to feel good about myself in the future.

However, if you feel that $150-200 is too much (I would opt for the edited ones as well), then you should talk to the photog and let him know what you want and what you can pay and see if there is a happy medium you can meet at. He's in a service industry, so not saying he's going to screw himself, but he will want a happy customer that will refer others to him.

I don't know....I want the pictures, but I don't want to spend $150 on a disk of pictures that I can't print out and I don't know if I want to just drop it and regret not ever getting to see all the pictures. I think I would feel different if I had asked for all the pictures to be touched up. I have emailed him about putting a few more pictures up in the online gallery and maybe picking and choosing which ones I want on a disk. I am so torn.

I think it also depends on how much time was spent doing the shoot and doing touch ups on the computer. I don't believe he would just give you the images without editing them a little.

I think $200 is an amazing price! I paid $150 for a 2 hour session and got about 100 images on the CD.

I would get it. I love pictures and it's something you'll always look back on. One day when you're a grandmother and your skin has lost it's youth, you'll look back and be glad you have them :)

Just my opinion anyway!

Good luck!

I totally agree, I think it is worth $150-200!!! And so will your FI :-) Why wouldn't you be able to print them out? Did he specify that it would be locked? I have no idea how these things work, not sure that is even possible.

Chanti the $150 is for webquality for print quality she said $200. I still think its absolutely worth it for all he's done for free. If I had a photog do free photos for me and i liked them i'd probably tip them about $100 for doing good work for me w/out a profit. Especially cause it didn't just take up his time, shooting and editing but he has to to fork out the money for your book.
