Battery Operated Hanging Lanterns...

Ok, so we took 25 of these down to ROR with us for the wedding. We also bought $1 store batteries (bad idea??)

 

The lanterns were hung around 6PM~ish, give or take 20 mins. You can seen in the beginning of the pics that they are glowing. Well, DH and I look up maye an hour in and none of them are glowing!! So our paper lanterns lasted, oh, about 1.5-2 hours.

 

Just an FYI. They still looked really nice, and I assume they are still up. They said they would take them down for us but never did and wanted to relax and enjoy our vacation so we stopped asking. I think that the plug in kind would have been better, but oh well.

Where did you buy the lanterns? We just bought some from Garden Ridge and now I am thinking I need to test them out before we get down there. Thanks for that tip!

We are doing paper lanterns w/ LED throwies that can last about 2 weeks!

They're cheap and convenient! Sarah used them in her wedding and they were great!!!

We bought them from Bed Bath and Beyond. Buy good batteries and then test them out. Or make the throwies and use those instead! It might have just been the batteries, but who knows.

You don't know how much we were kicking ourselves for not making these. We were so close to buying all the supplies, but we just ran out of time, motivation and energy.


Dont get me wrong, even not lit, they looked really nice. But it would have been nicer to hae them lit up!!

We used Dollar Tree battery-powered lanterns at our AHR.

 

I think your downfall was using $1 batteries. We paid more for Energizer and/or Duracell and had no issues with the lanterns going out. In fact, weeks later I checked and most were still working.

 

So, I do think its more an issue with quality batteries than it is with the lanterns themselves.

 

Bummer that yours went out - BUT I know they still looked great!

I purchased my lanterns from the dollar tree as well... Hopefully when it comes time to use them they will do ok. I will definitely buy some good batteries.

I don't have the time to make the throwies. Has anyone found the large battery operated lanterns at a reasonable price? The lanterns at Dollar Tree are nice, but they are much smaller than what I will need.
