Too many choices!

Hi everyone, we've just recently gotten enagaged and are planning a DW for October 2010 but haven't decided where yet. I was originally thinking Mexico since it's cheap and relatively close, but have yet to find everything I'm looking for in one resort.

It needs to be "family-friendly" as my fiance has 4 nieces (ages 4-12) but I'd also like it to have options for night-life as we are inviting quite a few "party-loving" friends. Being close to some sort of "town" would be nice too to give guests options for shopping etc.

The more I look at the DR the more I like it. What I love the most is the more "tropical" look the resorts seem to have. Mexican beaches tend to look more like the desert whereas DR beaches have plenty of palm trees! My problem is I believe the flight might be a little on the long side for the little ones and I'd feel bad making guests take a 7 hour flight. (Which I think is how long it is from Vancouver). Grrr. What to do.............

Congratulations and welcome to the forums!

May I suggest Playa del Carmen and area? Sure I am bias because I live here... but many resorts near the town in the Mayan Riviera will have what your looking for and Playa has great shopping and night life!

Please... take some time and look into it. The beaches, water and palms are fantastic in this area.

Welcome to the site. You will find this site very helpful. I am getting married in Cancun BECAUSE of the night life. I am originally from the DR and have attended weddings there and in Cancun by far I had a better time at the Cancun weddings. Also I chose Dreams Cancun because it is kid friendly. I have a 10 year old son and a huge family with lots of kids after visiting Dreams 2 weeks ago I was sold. Hope this helps and good luck in your planning.
