Help! Losing Sleep over Seating Arrangements for DW Reception and AHR

Can you all please help me!?

Ok, so I have read Etiquette books and it says that when you do not assign seats at the Reception it makes people uncomfortable.

I am dreading coming up with seating arrangements! There is no family drama or anything like that..I just don't like it when people tell me where to sit, but also am not sure how I feel about sitting just wherever. I have been to weddings where both have happened. How do all you feel either way?

Question Part I

We are having 30 people at our DW dinner, I have to have place cards to tell the waiters what people are having for dinner.

1)Should I come up with a seating arrangement/table assignment?

2)Or should just have people pick up their place cars and have them sit where they choose?

Question Part II

Also, we are having an AHR with about 100 people for a Buffet. Should I come up with:

1)a seating arrangement

2)assignment to a table

3)let it be a free for all?

Any suggestions about what to do? This is keeping me up at night.

Thanks so much for your help!

I think for you DW dinner you should maybe have a seating assignment so your wedding party/ family/ in laws can sit near you/eachother appropriately and then your friends together as well. You want to go for as little stress for you as possible on the day of the wedding so to not have people wandering around not knowing where to sit, will be one less stress.

I think the idea of giving people a table number but not an exact seat is a great idea for your AHR, that way they have an idea where to go but you dont have to warry about the particulars like who sits next to who.

Either way no matter what you decide im sure it will be beautiful

Thanks Cilly_Girl! I love that idea.

For the AHR, I think assigning the table will be good. That way Fi and my side dont seperate themselves. We need to merge! Now to go through and figure how to group everyone.

Thanks!
