Hi Rachelle! I am in the Dallas area also... which is interesting because Brian is in Atlanta. He left Texas in March (had to for his job) and will be there for 2 more years. I am definitely open to moving to ATL, but only want to do so once we are engaged and I have a job there. He would love for me to just move there now, but I'm fearful of cohabiting before the ring (because then maybe it will never come?) and would be more confident in moving if I had a great job to be excited about. I LOVE Texas and have lived here all my life... grew up in Fort Worth, went to school in Austin, lived in Houston shortly after college graduation, and now back in Dallas. My family, friends, favorite resturants, malls, hairstylist, doctors... etc (all the important stuff) is here, except him!

Hi Morgan, welcome! I'm also from Texas and an "unofficial bride". I do know that my bf has bought the ring though, so we're sort of in the same boat - waiting. I live in Dallas, how about you?

 

We are planning on getting married in Playa del Carmen at one of the Iberostar resorts. The one in particular that we are thinking about is called Iberostar Tucan and it is nicknamed "The Jungle Hotel" because it surrounds an actual jungle with monkeys, parrots, etc! The beach there is supposed to be wonderful, and the prices affordable (It's AI as well, app. $850/person for 4 nights/5days INCLUDING airfare). Btw, if you are located near Dallas we found a great Travel Agent here that specializes in Destination Weddings - the agency is called Tiki Trips - Tiki Trips - Unique Vacations to Exotic Destinations. We're going to the Tucan in Playa for a site visit (before we're even engaged, ha!) June 9th-13th. Very excited!

Welcome Morgan, I wish I had found these girls earlier in my planning, I may have done things differently. You will love everyone here, they will truly become your new best friends. Just be careful, this forum is a full time job, my children are voting to ban me from the computer, good thing I pay the bills. Good luck picking your resort, hopefully we will be able to help narrow it down for you. I am a DR bride, not too many of us out there! Actually is there any others out there?
