Catholic ceremony - Jamaica AI Resort

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

I'm leaning towards having a destination wedding in Jamaica since my FI and I met there initially. I'm hoping that the cost per person from T.O. will be somewhat reasonable for my guests who will be coming from Toronto and the UK. The other back up location would be Punta Cana....

But for the time being, I just wanted to see if there was anyone out there that stayed at an AI resort and had a catholic cermony and reception back at the resort?? If so, can you let me know which resorts offer this? I've been doing some research and it seems that some resorts do not perform catholic ceremonies.

Hopefully there is someone out there that is or was in my boat and can recommend a resort in Jamaica.

Thank you!

BrenBren

Hi! I, too, have been looking at a catholic ceremony in Jamaica but Catholic priests don't really perform ceremonies outside of the church and that is why most resorts don't offer catholic ceremonies on-site.

Below is a link where we've started some discussion about this before:

Good luck and if you have any questions or want to compare notes based on our individual research, feel free to PM me.

Hey guys!

Thanks for all the information.... I'm still looking into this.

RIU indicates that they cannot perform catholic cermonies however I have just emailed them to double check. Anyone know how what their turn around time for responses are?

I've also sent an email to Grand Palladium on this topic.

Does anyone have contact information for the wedding coordinator at Grand Bahia Principe?

Thanks!

hi Bren Bren,

Not sure if you still need the contact info:

Beverley Antoine - [email protected]

1 876-973-7000 ext 50081

So far I found that only the Rose Hall resort plans Catholic weddings onsite. Otherwise, it has to be performed at a church.

Blessed Sacrament Catherdral is located in Montego Bay, if this helps.

Good Luck!

Are you looking for a family property or any property that allows for or assists with a Catholic ceremony ?

If not -as I stated earlier Sandals Momntegi Bay definately does Catholic ceromonies in their chapel onsite ( kids can come for the ceremony).

They do charge an extra fee for the catholic Ceremony ( 100 or 150) and also for use of the chapel (200).

Theyu can also assist in arranging it at Blessed Sacrament Catherdral and will provide transportation from Sandals Montego Bay to the church. You can themn have your reception on property!

Hi everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback!

As it turns out, I think I'm going to do the Catholic Church ceremony in my home town followed by a small lunch and then head out to JA for a symbolic ceremony/reception 2-3 days later. It makes all the paperwork so much hassel free!! It's working out for a number of people in my group. Plus I just got quoted with a good price (at least I think it is) for GPJ... sooo I'm kind of excited about it all. Hoping to finalize dates within the next 2 weeks =)

Thanks again for all the advice!!

Bren
