Redken products are amazing! I totally agree w/ Erica on all that! Although I tend to swtich around and try new stuff, I was a Redken addict for years and still use some of their styling products. (Hot Sets - which Monica and I refer to as "Hot Sex" is great! lol!)

 

Also, my salon uses Kerastase products...LOVE THEM!! I use their leave-in stuff and styling products all the time. They last forever. But they are kind of expensive (usually $30 per bottle - but I seriously only buy it like twice a year). That being said...the shampoo and conditioner are just as expensive - actually a little more - and I can't justify it since I go through those much faster.

 

SO...I just started using Frederic Fekkai (sp?) Technician shampoo and conditoner for color treated hair...and I REALLY like it! I can definitely tell a difference in the texture of my hair and I've only done like 3 washes since I got it. So in answer to Tammy's question, I think you CAN see results pretty quickly w/ good products...maybe not FULL results but definitely a difference. I can usually tell right away if I'm going to love a new product and if it's going to work for me.

 

BTW, Sephora has the Frederic Fekkai product I mentioned in a cute little travel/sample size. That's what I got to allow me to try it out before committing to a big bottle! I think they have other types in this package as well.

Also, I know at a lot of beauty product stores (Ulta for example) you can get smaller sizes in the Redken products. They seem to have the regular bottles and little ones in most of their products.

I would say the salon, Ulta or really any beauty/salon supply store will have it. Not sure if it's at Target...

in a salon......or trade secrets i dont know if you have that where you are.....dont buy it at target or cvs it is not garentee.. it is a salon gets it through redeken and targets gets it black market...

Erica... I'm so glad you're on this forum! I know NOTHING about how to treat my hair. I colour, so I do use the colour conditioner - I'll try the Redkin, I've seen it before, but have never tried it.

 

I've always coloured my hair at home on my own and have been considering colouring my hair professionally - my only issue is the $$$$. I already fork over $50 a cut every five weeks and that's hard enough to swallow... I hear colouring is pretty expensive. How often would I have to colour? Is there a trick to knowing the best highlights for my skintones... sometimes highlights come out looking kind of funky and I'm nervous to tell the lady to do whatever she wants! Do they colour and highlight at the same time as cutting? How long does this take? HELP! lol

yes it can be expensive but worth it for your wedding.....they can cut and color at the same appt.....also if your a natural girl stay within your color range for example....dark chocolate milk chocolate and peanut butter carmel and honey all go together...for dirty blondes..honey,butter,and the inside of a bannana all go together (i like to use food)..stay within you range of color and you wil be fine...try to get the color of your hair right then work with highlights...hope this helps....

Do I need to colour every time I cut? That just seems like a big expense every month or so...

no if you color your whole head and its close to your natural no but every other time and if you highlight its evry other about 10 weeks if you stay close to your color......

So after your help Erica, I went out and bought Redken (the kind that's for dyed hair). I have to admit, at first I didn't like it. It made my hair feel kinda of stringy, and I really had to get use to the amount of conditioner, I was clearly using too much! I used Herbal Essences before, and thought it worked well. I'm kind of cheap, so forking over almost $40 for two small (and I mean SMALL!) bottles of shampoo/condition seemed like a bit much. But, I've used it for almost 2 weeks now, and I think it's really starting to work. It definately does feel softer than it did when I first started using it (but again, getting use to the doses was key!)... but it's just not as soft and healthy feeling/looking as I'd expect it to be for $40. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there something else I can do to give it a bit more ooomph? I have super thick hair (or so I'm often told by my hairdressers), but it's really kind of lifeless. Any tips?
