Calling all *Curvacious* women!!

Great thread! I wish I had found it earlier.

As a Canadian, I usually shop at Addition-Elle. I don't really like a lot of the Clothes at Penningtons. I find that they can be quite frumpy, unless I buy from the MXM line, but sometimes I find that the MXM line can be a little young for me.

I also like Reitmans as well, but not all the stores carry the plus size line. I've actually lost 22 pounds and have dropped a dress size!

Alot of people think I'm much smaller than I actually am. I'm quite proptionate so people are surprised that I can't fit a size 16 (I'm actually now a 20/22)

When I'm in the US I like Lane Bryant and I wish they would bring the store here!

Old Navy does not ship to Canada unfortunately. It's a pain in the butt because I like Old Navy clothes.

I'm fortunate that I have family in the US that I can have stuff shipped to them, but it's equally a pain because then they have to have it shipped to me.

A lot of US stores won't ship to Canada. Lane Bryant doesn't do it either and I can't figure out the reason behind it.

Oh don't you just love that? You're standing in a regular store with someone and the sales persons asks if they can help you...HELLO!!! Does it look like I can fit into your clothes? Sheesh! I don't know if they're doing it to be nice or mean sometimes...anyway, I just laugh cause I think it's funny! lol

Yeah I know the feeling. My family and friends have all accepted me for the way that I look which is amazing. THIS IS WHO I AM!!!!!!!! As for strangers, well, if you don't like what you see, then look away! lol That's how I feel anyway. You just have to accept how you look and be happy with it. The outside is just a cover for the beautiful person you are inside.

Anyway, reading your thread makes me wish I had your up beat attitude but just thinking of having to wear a bathing suit in front of friends and family in 6 months scares the hell out of me. Got any positive words of wisdom??

I'm the same about my arms. :)

I'm not Lisaloo, but I just want to say don't be embarassed! My fiance and I are avid kayaker, we lake camp, and our favorite thing to do besides that is snorkel. I spend alot of time in the bathsuit. I don't care one whit what others may think of me (even when I hang out with my very fit personal trainer Best Friend!). You just have to work on the self confidence aspect, and then it won't matter. If you've got it... flaunt it... and it helps that the fiance loves it. wink.gif And, also, if you are going to be hanging out in the bathing suit with friends and family... they should love you no matter what! (Plus, they don't have perfect bods either I'm sure.)

This is a great bathing suit for hanging out in... without hanging out if you know what I mean. wink.gif

I haven't purchased that suit... I keep looking at it though! I already have way to many bathing suits, but it's only a matter of time! LOL I saw a girl wearing one like it at the lake and it looked very cute. John pointed it out to me and said I should get one too (probably because it looks like a very short sun dress). wink.gif

Almost all my bathing suits have come from Newport News and they run pretty true to size, and have good lining, and shelf bras, etc. My only complaint is they started using plastic strap adjusters, so they should be line dried rather than machine dried.

Hi girls- I purchased a couple swim dresses to wear in MX. I was kinda nervous to wear it cause I didn't want to look like an old lady, but I could NOT wear the skimpy little bathing suits all my very tiny gfs were wearing. I wore the swimsuit after lots of encouragement from DH and I received lots of compliments. They are adorable, COMFORTABLE and flattering.

Does anyone have a Maurices near them? I don't think they have them in Canada so sorry about that! Anyways, they have cute Plus clothing that is young and stylish.

Here's a way to find one: http://maurices.com/locations.htm

i absolutely agree, this is a great suit! i bought it last year, wore it to a pool party (that i really didn't want to attend because i was so embarrassed to wear a swimsuit in front of these friends), and i got a TON of compliments on it. i am much smaller on top than bottom, so i found the top of it to be too big. i thought i would just get it taken in now but i lost some weight and it is overall huge now. i just ordered a size smaller to take on my DW trip ... hoping it comes in time and fits!!! need something bandeau to not have tan lines in my strapless dress for the wedding!

btw, great thread. when i first started planning a DW and looking at dresses, my thought was, "i guess fat chicks aren't supposed to get married on the beach?" LOL ... seems like dresses meant for DWs are almost all plunging neckline, backless, slinky, sexy numbers. i ended up going with a totally traditional wedding dress. :)

See I want cute sexy underwire tankini's for my trip. I got 2 from Old Navy last year, from the plus size swim and they are super cute but I want something diff now as I have been wearing those for 2 years, the only bad thing is that I hate the plus size bottoms that come with ON swim, that my me look totally fatter than i am, so I throw those out and buy different ones from target or VS.

Also I cant really wear shelf bra swim because it makes me look saggy, then the halters hurt my neck, ugghh so tough!!!
