Hi Everyone :)

I've been lurking for a couple of days while I read through the whole thread...everyone is so supportive and seems so positive. I'm not getting married until February 2012, and the diet started last week (technically it started in April...but finally decided to fully focus and now it's ON!)

I'm freaked for wedding dress shopping...won't start that till january at the earliest...and even more freaked for the bathing suits...

But after looking at all the sites that offer bigger suits (especially ones that can hold up bigger boobs)..I'm not as afraid :)

So..just wanted to say hi to everyone and that this thread has been really great to read through.

  • 5 weeks later...

just making sure my lovely ladies are still around!!!! love.gif

The fam and I started our own "biggest loser" competition and it's going great so far!  K and I are following the Cheat your Way Thin diet and so far, so good.  After 6 weeks, we've both lost just under 17lbs!  Everyone threw in $20/person so the winner will get the whole lot - $200!  I'm so freakin' excited!  We're going by % of weight loss.  I don't think I'll win, but K def. has a good chance!  Oh the things that I'll do with his money! lol

Anyone else doing something fun like this?

Welcome MsMarMar!  I think our thread is the best one out there :)  Tons of support, tons of "I feel the same way"s, and tons of new ideas!

I'm a size 22 and I felt fabulous on my wedding day!  No matter what size you are, you're going to look beautiful.  Accept yourself for who you are.  Love yourself.

Oh Wow Lisa!  I haven't lost weight since . . . 2002?  OMG!  Wow 8 years!  That's awesome that you have so many people in on your family BL!  Congrats!

I guess I've got my family in on it as well but in a different way.  My brother does kickboxing and mixed martial arts so I finally opened up to him and told him I wanted him to be like my personal trainer.  We do everything outside with things from around the house/yard.  I love this SO MUCH MORE!  I push him, spar with him, flip tires, crunches etc.  I LOVE IT.  He pushes me just like Bob and Jillian from the BL.  He doesn't let me quit early, and makes sure I carry out the full set of reps.  If I didn't have him, I wouldn't be doing anything.

I have to admit, I'm not regular at it.  I started in May and still only see him once a week (sometimes twice a week).  I haven't lost any weight, but I'm not focusing on numbers.  I just want to move and he's definitely making me do that!  I'm having so much fun (finally).

Lisa - that's awesome about doing the BL with your family!! I love that show and just seeing the transformation those people go thru! And 17 lbs is an awesome start. Congrats!

Kelly - that's great about working out with your brother. Sure, it would help if you were able to do it more than once a week, but you're right....it's seriously about loving yourself, and if you feel better about yourself, then that wonderful! I'm starting to realize that I'm not trying to lose weight just to get down to a certain size. When I look at my son, I know that I want to be around for a long time, and I want to make healthy choices so I can be around as long as I can for him :) :)

Dear Little Miss Sunshine Squasher

I like your siggy and I think I will use that quote tomorrow at work.  You're funny Heather!  When I think about kids, I think about the life my family gave me.  We were always SO active and were able to do so many things.  But I look at some of my large friends who aren't able to move all that much without getting out of breath and I see the effects on their kids.  This scares me and will definitely make me want to strive to be better.  I now accept who I am, and am happy, but the kids man!  They sure can change your life (in more ways that one)!

That's awesome Kelly to have your brother help you out!  I so need to get more into the exercise thing, but man, I don't love it! lol  I do a bit of walking and sometimes bike around.  I could be doing more, but frankly, I work from 7am-5pm and by the time I get home, make/have dinner, do dishes, make lunches it's 8pm and I'm freakin' exausted.  I know, excuses, excuses! lol

I'm glad you like the siggy Kelly, LOL. It's kind of a long story, but the edited version is that with everything I'm dealing with at home, I was just having a really rough week at work and one of the salespeople in my office went to my boss and basically complained that I was being difficult and she was finding it too hard to work with me....waaaaay too much drama for me, plus it's like she had no understanding for what I was trying to deal with at that moment. Anyway, I knew I was being bitchy, but I was more upset about how she handled it....I mean we are grown ups...we aren't 4 years old anymore KWIM? So anyway, my boss confrinted me about it and because this salesperson is just always so freaking perky and upbeat he told me that I was *squashing her sunshine*. omg, give me a break. I was having a bad week. Let me deal with things and I'll get over it. It's not like I was being mean or rude. I was just kind of irritable that week. So I was telling the story to some of the girls on BDW and it just felt appropriate to update my siggy :)

How have you been?

You're right, it really is all just excuses.  When it's a priority you do it right?  My boss has 3 kids all in hockey.  All of them had games around the same time one night, all in different arena's, all in opposite ends of the city.  She ran around like CRAZY, but you know, she did it.  She was just as exhausted working 7-4, dinner, cleaning, getting kids ready, and by 6:30 they were at their games.

I tried the excuses on my brother.  I worked 7:30 - 4, had class from 5 - 6:30, didn't have supper, and my arm was so sore I could barely lift it.  He made me come.  I didn't have a choice.  Other times I had cancelled I started to feel guilty.  He was taking nights out of his week, changing plans, FOR ME.  Then I would call him last minute and cancel for **insert excuse here**.  I STILL try to make excuses even after 3-4 months of working with him.

UGH!  I can't stand drama!  You're situation at work is exactly like my work.  Someone started screaming and yelling at another because they were annoying (or just being themselves).  Person B called Human Resources and filed a complaint.  In retaliation, Person A did the same thing.  We all got pulled into the conference room one at a time to have a discussion with HR (who is actually in a different country).  Now everything is awkward at work.
