Crisis Averted! *Warning - long*

Are you sure you understood their policy correctly? They are saying,"commercial purposes". To me,as a photographer, it sounds like I have to pay $1,000 if I decide to use those images for commercial purposes. It's pretty common. This is why they even said that it is photographer's responsibility. Because it would definitely be mine!! Commercial usually means selling the work. If you are the only person who'll be seeing the images, I don't look at it as commercial work. I would not try to sell your images(and my contract prohibits that) to magazines,TV,making post cards, calendars with images of the resort, etc.

$1,000 vendor fee is absolutely unheard of. See if you can double check on these points.

Also, what happens if your friends decide to shoot a wedding for you, do they all have to pay that fee? Probably not...wink...wink...photographer=friend :)

I like your style!

Yeah, it makes sense the way that you put it...I just can't in good conscience take the chance that my photographer will be told that they have to pay this fee and have them eat the costs of this seeing as though we already have a contract and a set price. I really really do want them to make a little bit of money from my wedding wink.gif All said and done, I really am happy with my decision. In fact, even if I was told that this would be waived, I would stick with the change anyway. Thanks for shedding a little light on this!

A few venues here in Toronto do the same thing. They have a rate of about $100 for wedding photography and $2,000+ for commercial photography. Unless that resort is made of gold, they shouldn't charge more than our high end venues.
Good luck.
