job situation

My fiance found out today that we'll probably have to be moving so he can keep his job. With the economy right now, that's ok by me. I'd rather have to go somewhere and him keep his job than lose it and be uncertain about what we're going to do and how we're going to live. Even though I love Colorado (where we're living and I grew up) - I know this move doesn't HAVE to be permanent and that we can try to come back in the future. THEN he tells me that his boss suggested we don't put deposits down for the wedding and that we should just make it a quick one. WTF?! It's a destination wedding and we haven't booked anything yet. We can just as easily leave from Texas or Arkansas as we can from Colorado. So now i'm worried about why he's suggesting this and really frustrating that my fiance is going to agree and make me give up my wedding! I'm sitting at work and want to cry! This isn't how it's supposed to go! HELP!

I'm sorry you are going thru this right now. Talk about stressful. Plus, trying to interpret the meaning behind what your FIs boss is saying is near impossible. A quick wedding doesn't necessarily mean an inexpensive one.

Hang in there! I would just proceed with as much caution as you can.

Best wishes,

Jen

Thanks. I suppose I'm mostly bummed about leaving Colorado. I grew up here but have lived in other states. It's pretty much my heaven and I hate to leave again. No offense too but I don't really enjoy the south. I also hate not knowing what's happening and how to plan the wedding. I'm definitely trying to stay positive and supportive for my fiance though.

yes u still have plenty of time...so see what you can gather in terms of dates from his boss. Even if quick, his boss has to honor time off, especially for a life changing event. You may have to make a minor adjustment and pair down the length of time away, however,as you said in this economy have to be flexible and appreciate the fact that he is still employed and selected to make the move for his company.
