Deadly swine flu virus in Mexico

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to let the ladies know that optimistic attitude from genmalone and tylersgirl is making me feel a whole lot better and hopeful that mine will go on as scheduled. I already waited almost a year since the engagment. I don't want to extend another year! Thanks ladies!

Jac-I am so glad y'all are still going to go to Akumal!! Yay! I want to meet up for sure, but we leave on the 5th. I will have to check and see what time because I forgot, haha. I just know that we are going to both have the best weddings!!! I will let you know what time we are leaving and maybe we can meet up wink.gif *hugs*

Erika-Thanks for the support and great advice! You are too sweet and I loved your gift you gave me. It made my day! wink.gif

Ikupoo-I am so glad we made you feel better!! We have been planning this for so long and we aren't going to let a pig flu stop us!

For the gals who are rescheduling to other locations ~ I'm glad you guys have come to a resolution and will still be celebrating your weddings. I know they will not be "as planned" but I am also confident they will be filled with happiness and love, and awesome pictures for all us ladies to enjoy wink.gif

For those who have decided to go on with their plans in Mexico ~ I'm equally glad that you are sticking with your plans and basically giving the swine flu a big "F.U." cheesy.gif I am leaning toward giving the damn flu bug my middle finger myself, lol. And as with the other girls who have changed their plans, I wish you lots of sunshine and happiness on your special days. Heck, you'll be able to have your own oasis if others still stay away from the area. Still sounds like paradise to me wink.gif

Essentially everyone must do what they feel is best for their own situation and circumstances. I am still bitter and pissed that all of us Mexico brides have to go through this crap, but I think all of our relationships and marriages will be better for it. If we can get through all this turbulence, just think what wonderful karma we have ahead of us.

Much love to all my fellow Mexico brides current and past ~ one of these days we will all have to celebrate in Mexico together. shots.gif First round of tequila shots on me girls hug2.gif

Aww I'm sorry Lisa ~ ironically FI's family is full of doctors and they are all saying this is being blown outta proportion and it's all a matter of being careful and keeping sanitary while you're there.

Oooooh Vegas sounds like an awfully good alternative!!!! I WOULD LOVE meeting up with all the BDW gals and their hubbies (or not, lol) in sin city rolleyes.gif We would have such a blast!!!!! Girls weekend ~ let's do it!!!! woot.gif woot2.gif

I can't believe so many people are cancelling. We had several that contemplated it but only 2 that actually did (& it was a mother and 10 year old). I'm crossing my fingers that everyone gets on the plane tomorrow. We'll see! I'm not worried. The resort won't be nearly as crowded and our chances of being upgraded to a suite are excellent. We're trying to focus on everything positive about the situation.

With several weeks to go you have a lot of choices. Obviously I think you should do what you want. Have you contacted your hotel/resort? We are working with the Occidental Grand Cozumel and they have been awesome. They gave us the option to change our date or switch our entire group to another location (DR, Aruba, etc). We just didn't have time to really think about it with our wedding being this Friday, May 1st. Our resort is now offering full refunds to anyone in our party that wants to cancel. If you haven't called your's, you should. Its always good to know your options.

Good Luck!

question for the brides that have changed destinations....

have you had to pay extra to move your holiday and wedding if the hotel as cost more?

this is the situation i'm in.. i fly on the 20th of may, none of my guests want to fly to mexico so i'm looking at other destinations, but none of us can afford to pay anymore money, its already cost a fortune and we can't find anything for the same price or similar dates. we have so much planned for june so moving the wedding back isnt really an option. yet my travel agents wont refund out money cos technically they havent cancelled the flights yet, (everyone follow? lol)

just wondered if anyone has had to put money towards moving thats all really...
