The way I look at it is - I live in Dallas Texas - We have 3 confirmed cases in Richardson - 15 miles from me. Am I moving my house? HELL NO. Am I locking myself indoors - HELLLLLL NO. I'm I changing my wedding location? HELL to tha NO!

I can just as easily get the FLU - here - as I can in Cabo.

Wow the media really knows how to rile everyone up. People act like this is some mass killer taking over the world straight out of the movies.

It's the flu, the plain old flu, just a different type. I mean why dont we hear about the 500,000+ deaths a year from the flu normally? Why all of a sudden is 150 in mexico a huge deal? Or 100 in the US? Its stupid and I am banning my sefl from foxnews.com and cnn.com

Blown WAY WAY WAY out of proportion....

However it is important to note that there are also no documentated cases in the Cancun/RM area. Those people could have very easily contracted the virus on a plane, AND I find it ironic that no one has pointed out whether those who had visited Cancun had non-stop flights or if they stopped in Mexico City, which obviously is a hotbed for the virus.

All non-essential travel from Canada to Mexico has been canceled as of last night. The Canadian Health Advisory Board issued the warning, and the every major travel company has canceled all services to Mexico until June 1st.wtf.gif

FI and I are scheduled to depart June 20th. FML!

Has anyone had to cancel yet??

Lauren I completely agree w/ you. Although i know this day is supposed to be about us, but its very important to FI that our closest family be there. And alot of them are military. I don't want to continue planning a wedding that they may not be able to attend, and not because they don't want to but because they are ordered not to and don't have a choice!

Absolutely and military totally understandable. If our situation was differnet and our closest friends and family didnt feel comfortable going - we would probably consider switching locations. Or FI and I would just go on ourselves, then have a big party when we get back. Thankfully - most of our guests are on board with us and agree - they could catch it anywhere at this point and are ready to hit up the pool bar!

i let everyone know though if they are not comfortable attending in mexico we COMPLETELY understand and will celebrate with them when we get back.

Really the day is about my FI and I and the vows we make to each other. Whether there is 2 of us or 32 of us....it will still be the most special day ever :)

Hi girls, I got married in Cancun in November and haven't been to this forum in a while. Just wanted to stop by and give you all some *hugs*. I'm so sorry all of this swine flu stuff is happening so close to your wedding dates! I'm sure there will be some humor in this some day, but as of now, I'm just sending you all warm, fuzzy thoughts and I hope your wedding days all are wonderful - no matter where they are!

Hi everyone - just thinking of you brides who have to deal with this sad.gif i will give a piece of advice coming from a nurses point of view - watch what the WHO is saying - check their website and go from there. I know many travel companies here in Canada are not insuring people who are choosing to go to Mexico...Anyway - you are all in my thoughts - good luck to you xoxo
