Argh! Who knew that planning a wedding meant your personal info was going to get sold to so many annoying vendors. I went to a bridal expo and wanted to shoot myself because it was so overwhelming. Now they have sold my info and there are 2000 unread emails in my inbox. Then Davids Bridal sold my info when I bought a dress for my best friends wedding. Now my physical mailbox is filling up. This just censored.gif!!!!

I have the same thing going on. I used to go to the mail box and think wahooo mail. Now everyday it's another photography place, reception hall, flower store, all wanting my business.

A few people suggested putting fake numbers or fake addresses down, and straight up refusing to give info.. but as it seems to be it's a little too late for that.

Good luck

They actually don't usually SELL your info for bridal expos, but they give it freely at most. I have been a vendor at bridal fairs before and they give you the entire list of brides who attended. It really does suck, but the good news is that by the end of the year, they should stop! Unlike annoying credit card offers! :)

It is correct, All bridal shows give away your information to the vendors who were participating. It's part of the package they offer.

In most cases you may be responsible. Sweepstakes and free giveaways where you had to put your email/phone number are a few ways to get your information. Most people don't read the fine print, saying how your info is going to be used.

The best way to avoid this is to create a separate email for these things

I set up a separate email addy for this kind of stuff. Whenever I sign up for anything online, or other things (ie, bridal expos!) I use my "junk" email account! It doesn't help you out now, but for things in the future!! Or you could turn your current account into your junk one & start a new one - just let fam & friends know the new addy! (You'll probably want to start a new email addy with your new name after the wedding anyway - if you're changing it!)
