Help me convince FI to have a DW!

Ok - so I thought we were all set on a DW in Playa Del Carmen. Out of the blue, FI told me he wasn't sure. When I asked why, he said he had always dreamed of playing his trumpet at his wedding (long story...). What? Where did that come from?

 

I'm set on having a DW. Any suggestions on how we can both get what we want?

He can bring his trumpet wherever you get married....I'm sure that can be fit in to a DW, yes?

Do you think it would be weird at a beach wedding? Maybe I'm overreacting?

Mariachis play on the beach with their guitars, trumpets, violins... so you can your FI!

 

Is he concerned about transporting his instrument? He can carry it on the plane, lock it in a suitcase while at the hotel, and you can always have a friend bring it back to your city while you're on the hm.

 

Do you think he is using the trumpet as a cover for a bigger reason not to do a dw?

I think you can have whatever you want at your wedding. If all it is is his trumpet keeping you from having a DW - let him bring the trumpet and play it to make him happy. Bumbles is right about transportation and keeping it safe in the hotel. We all have our wedding dreams...if his is to play the trumpet at his wedding....let him have it and continue planning!

Thanks ladies! I hadn't thought about the mariachis using trumpets. I just pictured this loud trumpet on the beach and couldn't see how it would fit in. Great ideas for transporting it. I feel much better about it now.

 

If there is a bigger issue at play here I believe it is throwing out the traditional wedding idea (the one with the church with reception following) and committing to do something different and a little unknown. But, I know I can ease his mind on that especially with all the helpful information found on this forum.

If his dream is the trumpet...tell him yours is the DW. And you both have to meet in the middle. Like the other girls said...play the trumpet at the DW!!

I don't see why he can't bring it with him to the destination wedding location. To me, it would be even more romantic.

Image you are standing on the beach and he's playing his trumpet. Ocean,wind...Would certainly be something to remember!

for the simple fact that you want to do A DW, tradition goes out the window!! meet in the middle guys, I am sure it will work out beautifully.
