Fi and I (wedding photogs) prefer to have a list of priority/ essential shots. We still do our own thing (within reason!) and chances are that most shots on the list we would do anyway but its nice to have an idea of whats really important to the couple.

Its especially handy to include names/relationships particularly if members of the family are divorced/estranged or you have extended groups of people that you would really like to include.

Dont go crazy with the groups, the focus of the day should really be about you, FI and your nearest and dearest. Theres nothing worse for a photog to be invited to a stunning location and get no time with the couple cos theres so many groups to get through. Your time will fly, group shots always take much longer to co-ordinate than you think and very few usually end up in the final album.

Any decent photog should not be offended by having a list provided for them, dont forget at the end of the day YOU are employing THEM to give you what you want. Good Luck.
